    Default Need Vs Want

Please tell me I'm not the only one that has a quilt I need to be working on but instead I'm working on one I want to. Need vs want -- it really gets me feeling guilty! Do I really need this fabric? LOL - probably not - too bad, I want it I'm going to stop feeling guilty and go enjoy working on a quilt that I don't need to be working on.

Lol, I think we have all done this at one time or another. And you shouldn't feel guilty. You know you will do it at sometime or another...

Oh sure... Happens to everybody at least once.... The trick is not to feel guilty.... It's the same principal as when you dislike a book, only because you have to read it.... We all struggle to balance our needs and wants.... We sometimes go to great lengths to convince ourselves that we NEED our WANT ....sometimes it works....

I am always working on the one I'm not supposed to be working on!

I can't say I feel guilty, more like pressure. I have 3 quilts that I NEED to get done and two of them I am looking forward to working on but the one I am on I work on it only because it will never get done if I don't AND I NEED to get it done.

I have about 6 quilts to baste. I'm guessing that number is more like 10...have no idea why I'm not spending the day spraying them. I'm making another top. Craziness, I need to make a list and check myself...I have 5 in progress. I'll finish all of them, I always do! I'm just out of control lol

I have three baby quilts that I need to finish. One just needs the label hand stitched on, the other needs to be quilted. .and the label added. Just found out that little guy came. Then I have one that had the back, just needs to be quilted. I have six weeks before that little one comes.

I also have two sets of placemats to bet ready b4 the first week in Dec...and I need to get the quilt blocks ready for my aunts' 90th birthday. We are flying home to MN to surprise her and I am bringing squares for people to sign. She needs nothing at this point. Except that I buy her the ugliest socks I can find....and they need to be under $1.98. I mean anyone can buy expensive ugly socks...the goal is to find the cheap ones. I started this with my mother and she loved it. When momma died, I passed it on to her youngest sister who is my godmother and aunt and now fill-in mom. She told me when i talked to her last week that she is geting quite the reputation for her socks .My hubby is really good at finding ones that make your eyes water. As long as it makes her happy..that's all I want...any way, squares need to be done.

So if someone could find an extra week between now and New Years that is just for quilters....it doesn't after the normal time continuum, it just gives is time to get some more quilting done...and you don't get tired and you aren't missed....

I understand you completely!! I was working on the rainbow mystery quilt before and I set it aside because my DH kept pushing to get his quilt done which I finally did....then instead of starting on my Christmas projects I went back to the rainbow quilt and got the top all put together...I didn't need to but I wanted to because I don't like having the pieces laying around. Now that the top is done I sat it aside and feel better about working on Christmas projects.

My problem is time...I'm not working so I have plenty of time but I seem to get side tracked with sleeping in, the computer, appointments, and now house hunting for my oldest son that has to move out of our house by the 2nd week in January (or so) because he accepted an IT specialist job at a hospital and has to be within 30 minutes for when he's on call....frustrating because our house is 38 minutes from his job and I want him to stay at home forever :-(

Then, my husband came back last night from helping his uncle with his lift (he has MD) and informs me that the blanket he was using is one of those velour types and it has the little lint balls all over it plus looks pretty thin. He can't use a sheet because it gets tangled up too easily. I had asked my husband a few months ago if he thought I should make him a lap type quilt for when he's in his wheelchair but he kept saying no....so now I have a double bed size quilt to make also for his uncle although it has no time limit. My husband thought about the rainbow quilt and he's going to look at that top and if he thinks it will work then I will just need to sandwich it and at least it will have a home!!!!

Oh, and lets not forget fabric...I didn't need the DD of the jelly roll last week but I wanted it so of course I ordered it with some of the yardage of those labels that was on my wishlist.

    Need vs Want.....a constant battle.

Think we all do this! But in my case when money is an issue...sometimes have it sometimes don't... I try to make it work for me so I have fabric all the time...when I need it! I wait for sales and use coupons at Joannes and get all my fabric for a t least 50% off regular price and then often have a 25% off total purchase coupon so that makes it 75% off regular price! Can't beat that price with a stick! So I just choose colors/prints I like and think I will be able to use or just really like and know I will make something with it.That way, I have it when I need it cause I wanted it during a sale!
