It was a long labor, and then finally................
This little project took longer than any labor I've experienced....thank the lord is over and the outcome isn't so bad either. I'd like to say I won't make the same mistakes on the next one, but that would probably just jinx me.
Here are the pics of my tote with zipper

See all that booze in the background...I swear I was not sipping it while working on the tote, afterwards is a whole other story - LOL

Carol this is really pretty! I love your colors and as far as the booze in the background...sometimes while sewing/quilting we may all need to take a nip

Re: It was a long labor, and then finally................
The bag turned out pretty! The next one will be a lot quicker! :D

Re: It was a long labor, and then finally................
Your tote is really pretty. I know what you mean about so much labor. I decided I could copy a Vera Bradley bag. Ha! I did it and it looks nice, but I decided it's worth it to pay Vera's prices. It's a LOT of work.

Re: It was a long labor, and then finally................
Very nice! Congrats on your success! Pam is right, the next one will be a lot quicker...and there will be a next one, they are addictive LOL!

Re: It was a long labor, and then finally................
I'm so proud of you! You tackled the zipper and YOU won! It turned out very lovely, and surely worth the learning curve!

Re: It was a long labor, and then finally................
Congrats! You conquered the beast and won! And your reward - a beautiful tote with zipper!

Wow - talk about a doubletake - I just made a very similar tote, colors and zipper the same, with a very similar GRRR followed by liquor story! Yours looks so much nicer though!

LOL I love your tote - I'm so happy it all turned out OK. I'm sure you will use it a lot :)

Re: It was a long labor, and then finally................
Well, at least you're a Smirnoff gal! I used mine shortly after making the first zippered bag. LOL
Your bag is lovely and the next one will go much faster. The zippered bags look so nice and make things secure. I had to watch Jean's video several times to get my lining on the zipper with the correct side on the zipper. Somehow, my brain just didn't like going in reverse. haha Your bag turned out great and I love the fabric.

Re: It was a long labor, and then finally................
OH, my goodness. That is georgeous! I love the fabric, the color, and you did a great job.
I totally understand the whole time thing though. I have made one tote and could not believe how long it took me.

Re: It was a long labor, and then finally................
Now I know what I am doing wrong, - no booze in the sewing room. Need to change that.
Beautiful work!

Thanks for the compliment. BTW - my gkids call me grammie too!!!

Re: It was a long labor, and then finally................
Thanks everyone for the nice compliments....even with all the set backs, I really enjoyed making this bag. It's actually one of many I need to make for christmas gifts for family members. This one is for one of my sisters.
I guess I should add some egg nog to that booze line up - LOL

Re: It was a long labor, and then finally................
It's great! I had to watch the tut for the first two I made and I am comfortable with zippers.

Re: It was a long labor, and then finally................
Carol, the tote is so beautiful. It was worth all the effort and extra time. Have watched Jeanīs tutorials too, they are great. When I made my bag I only had a written description. It took me forever to figure out where all the fabric and stuff has to go.
Amy, yours is very pretty too. I like the colors and fabrics a lot.

Re: It was a long labor, and then finally................
I've been trying to put a zip into a tote bag but haven't won yet!
could you let me know which tutorial you watched of Jenny's when she put a zip in. I am much better to see something being done than try to follow reading it.

It's gorgeous! I absolutely love that beautiful paisley liner.... You know.....some quilters swear a little booze/wine makes them better quilters..... Hmmmm?

Eileen,
The tut I used is from Jean Machine from this forum. She has a wonderful 5 part tut that is very clear and easy to understand. Here are the links to her tut.

Eileen,
I'm not sure that worked. Here is a link to the forum where I posted the link to Jean's tutorial.
