Forum friends are the best!
Guess who I met today? Turena Williams from Tillamook, OR! We've been trying to meet up for a long time every time I go to Oregon to see my sister, but this was the first time we actually were in the same place at the same time! She and her DHmet me and my friend at the MQX in Portland. Her DH used to work for the Tillamook Cheese Factory, so she gave me a lovely gift basket with yummy goodies in it from the factory! Her DHis a great guy, he actually sews!
So nice meeting you both!

Oh no! I am so sorry I missed you! That would have been so much fun to meet TWO forum members face to face! Did you get a machine? I did some comparison shopping, found my new baby--SOMEDAY!
Re: Forum friends are the best!
How nice!! When we went to Oregon a couple months ago, we did not have a set schedule so I was unable to meet up w/her. I was able to stop by a shop she mentioned tho!
How big of a show is this? I was thinking of driving down Saturday.

I was a little surprised at how small it was. But there were some great quilts and knowledgeable vendors, but totally doable in a day. Very little fabric, which surprised me. I still spent money, though.
We are staying in Seattle Sat. - through Tues! What shop did you go to in Oregon? We are roaming today, didn't think we'd be finished with the show in one day, but we are.
Re: Forum friends are the best!
What fun! I just met a Baking Circle (King Arthur Flour) friend, so I know how much fun you had.... It's so much fun to actually meet face to face.l. We had done Face Time, but meeting in person is the best.
Re: Forum friends are the best!
Jean, you should not only be dubbed the Jelly Roll Queen, but the official Ambassador for MSQC. How wonderful you two were able to meet. I love those smiles.

Wow...so glad you two quilt sweeties got to meet! I have always wanted to visit that part of the country, but haven't had the opportunity as of yet! Maybe some day!
Re: Forum friends are the best!
Jean, you need some Jingle Bells attached so others can locate you at these events. Did you wind up with any quilt pictures to inspire you?

If you do decide to go on Saturday, you should think about going early....that is the day it ends. (show hours are 10 am to 5 pm that day)
FYI, this show was all about machine quilting (MQX = machine quilting expo). It was a small show...there was a total of 172 quilts to drool over. And there were plenty of awesome new longarms to choose from and plenty of thread, pantos, designs, & goodies to take home for souveniers. But Jean is right....not much fabric.
They also had lots of classes & demos to keep you busy.
One of the many highlights for me was a less than graceful tail-over-teakettle tumble I took down the stairs....OUCH!! :icon_heh:
Have tons of fun if you decide to go!
