Classes
I was wondering if anyone has taken classes at Craftsy? If so, what do you think of the classes? I am taking several classes there, so was wondering if maybe we might be in the same classes. I am taking 2 classes by Jenny, 2 by Ann Peterson, 2 by Wendy Butler Burns, and the block of the month for last year and this year, and Creative Quilt Backs. I haven't watched any of the videos yet.

Re: Classes
Hi,
I am enrolled in both of Jenny's classes and also Wendy Butler Burns (1) and Ann Peterson (3). Also the Creative Quilt Backs and the BOM's - which I haven't even done, started the first one but didn't finish. I'm also enrolled in some other classes.
I really like Ann Peterson's classes.

Re: Classes
I've taken both of Jenny's classes. I have found that I don't need to spend the money for the classes if I just watch Jenny's You-Tube videos (freebies). Besides, I can't stitch fast enough to keep up with all the ideas, tips, and secrets floating around in my head. Ever have that feeling of overload?

Re: Classes
I really enjoy the Craftsy classes. Nice to be able to do them at your own pace too. I usually go thru and watch the whole class then go back and do the projects. There are lots of free classes that are really helpful. I finished both of Jennys and look forward to the third one. Enrolled in both '12 & '13 BOM classes and several others. Always get them on sale also. The one that I think was very misleading was titled Precut Piecing Made Simple. It really had little to do with precuts. Some students say they have trouble with the videos playing correctly. I have not had a problem. Enjoy, maybe I'll see you there!

Re: Classes
I only signed up for the 2 free quilting ones to learn more tips on making some of the BOM blocks! Watched 2 episodes and really like how they show the Q&A on the sides even though I'm watching them months later. Hope you have fun and learn tons to share :-)

Re: Classes
I am enrolled in over 20 classes and watch them over and over. Love 99 percent of them. The question section of each class is great and lots of tips are offered up as well.
I am hoping Jenny and a couple of the other quilting instructors have new classes soon.
Enjoy!

Re: Classes
@Carolyn - Camille's class - precut piecing made simple was awesome. I am making a couple of her projects. They are all done with a jelly roll, layer cake, charm, or fat quarter. You do have to add yardage for background fabrics, but they all use precuts. Camille is an terrific instructor. I love her books as well (no I do not know her or anything like that - lol). Anyway - just my 2 cents.

Re: Classes
I like Leah Day's Craftsy class. I know she has plenty of free videos on YouTube and I love these too. They are mostly showing you how to do specific stitches, where her Craftsy video has a lot of other good info...like how to tackle a bed-sized FMQ.
The one on creative quilt backs is also excellent.

Re: Classes
I am taking Cindy Needham's class, Design It, Quilt It: Free-Form Techniques, and so far it's been excellent!

Re: Classes
I feel the overload too. I joined all the free one's but there is so much on youtube I don't want to pay either. The pizza one is fun.

Re: Classes
I have taken several from free to paid and have really enjoyed most of them. They run sales a lot, so I always try to wait until the class I want is on sale before I sign up for it. I like the fact that I can watch them at my convenience and I can replay them as often as I like. I can bookmark certain places as a reference, as well. The thing I think I like the most about them vs. a live class is that the camera zooms in on the stitching so you can really see what is going on. In a live class, that is much harder to do. You can still ask questions in Craftsy classes, and read everyone elses questions and responses as well. The biggest disadvantage though is that you don't get an immediate response to your question and that you don't have an instructor right there over your shoulder to help you when you get stuck. Of course, they have bunches of classes in topics other than quilting too, but I've pretty much only taken the quilting courses.

Re: Classes
I am on my second class by Ann Peterson and enjoy these very much. I like being able to put aside the class to work on other projects, and then pick right back up where I left off. Can't do that taking a class at a shop!

Re: Classes
I love Craftsy classes. I am enrolled in 18 classes. Several were free workshops for basic stuff. Of course, I have both of Jenny's. I also have Precut Piecing Made Simple, and while it does use precuts in each project...most of them aren't what I would consider simple, unless you have plenty of quilting experience. We should provide our Craftsy username and follow each other. I love to see what classes and projects everyone is doing, even the non-quilting ones, it's inspiring. I am Breezed on Craftsy too.
Also, there are so many free patterns on Craftsy and they run some really awesome sales on supplies too. I love this platform.

Re: Classes
I enjoy Craftsy classes. The most current one I took was a class by Joanna Figueroa from Fig Tree Quilts and it was called something like Fresh Easy Quilts. I love that class and want to make every quilt she taught. Her fabrics are just gorgeous and she's a great teacher. I have taken both of Jenny's Quilting Quickly classes, an Eileen Roach machine embroidery class and several others. There are also a few nice classes offered free ... not to mention the free BOM classes.
