It is again about bias binding. is it important to be bias? I know the wear and tear thingy.
I have to go tomorrow for a pretty severe treatment for my RA, right after our pastor blesses
my parents ashes. I will be back thurs night to check in.

I only use bias on curves. Short and sweet. lol
Sorry about your parents.
Good luck with your treatment. So sorry about your parents.
I only do bias for curved binding. I know a lot of people use it routinely because of the wearing/fraying.
I only use bias binding on curves so it will lay flat. I used the double-fold French binding the rest of the time and my bindings wear really well.
Bias binding can look really interesting if it is a strip it will create an interesting effect on the edge. I mostly use straight binding and bias on the curves. happy sewing and Sorry about your parents .
I use bias binding for all my bindings; straight or curved. I just like how it hugs up to the edge of the quilt. I would always have bumps and wrinkles when I used straight of grain binding. I made a baby quilt with rounded corners and made my bias binding for the first time. I really liked the way the binding turned out so I've not used SOG binding again. It is definately a matter of preference!!!
I do straight binding on straight edges. So far all of my quilts have been square or rectangular.
I never use bias bindings unless I have curves or odd angles.
I used bias on a baby quilt because thats what I was told to do at the binding class I took. Then I found the Fons and Porter binding tool, which I love so much better. I use straight unless needed.
So sorry about your parents.
I AM BACK. They didnt tell us it would be a 3 hour infusion. i sent my husband out to play golf. had to change infusions cause the other one caused lymphomas(sp?).HAHAH Mchelem-always liked you for your sense of humor;). I had to get the paperwork to interrer my parents at Arlington Cemetery. But once again burials have been halted. their ashes are sitting under my cutting table. kinda like they are keeping me company.
OH Yes.......the orginal question. Thank you everybody. I have that autumn king plus 104x104 I am sending out to be quilted, but the binding lady no longer binds. Puts me in a bind(sorry, couldnt resist), I didnt feel up to making stretchy stuff, but can make the straight stuff. had made stretchy a long time ago. The quilt is for me and my husband and we dont get rough,... with the quilt, (again with the jokes). If i have no side effects tonight i am ready to start new projects. YAHOOOOOOOO!!!
