Been talk off and on about who to price a quilt and I ran across this blog that talks about it. She gives some pretty good ideas and reasons etc. Thought I"d pass it on to anyone that can use it.

Whoa, way too soon for me. Still a newbee here and I still can not get a binding to work out right.
The comments section is pretty interesting on the post too - people bring up some good points.

Katie, I saw your blog last night. Love your corgi's. Our corgi, Billy Bob White Paws will be 11 yrs old this Nov. They are wonderful dogs.

What is the value of my quilts? This was a difficult question for me for a long time. First of all, is my work perfect enough that I can sell it for money. How much is the value of my invested time. That means, what do I cost per hour if somebody wants me to work for him (in this here: if somebody wants me to make a quilt for him). So I asked some People, what does a taylor earn or ask per hour here in my Country. Another question was: does only the time count in which I am sewing or also the time I make the design an plan? What is with the time I spend with the Person to ask her wishes and talk about the Project.
And this is how I totalize (and I am the same as Katie): Material + incidentials + wages per hour + tax.
When I compare my bill with the costs of quilts from other quilters I have a good way. Not to cheap and not to expensiev.
And I never discuss about my price. Either I give away or I sell, but nothing inbetween. I never let beat down my Prices.
May the saddest day of your future be no worse than the happiest day of your past.
