I started quilting 12 hours ago and just stopped for the evening. I'm pooped!

I finished all my blocks, stitched my flimsy, pieced the back, and made a quilt sandwich. I will start quilting in the morning. When I started the quilt Friday morning, I had really hoped I could finish Sunday night, but now I don't know. I'm running out of steam!

My LQS was all out of batting today. (Come on, LQS! You've got to keep the basics in stock!) So I ended up using the tape to piece together batting rather than drive an hour in search of batting. It was a hassle -- not worth the time and trouble just to use up scraps (IMHO). I'm going to order batting from now on and keep it in stock in my sewing cabinet.

This is the biggest quilt I've ever made -- 80" X 80". I have a feeling I'm going to struggle through the stitching tomorrow. It's really pretty, though. The top is beautiful (such bright colors) and I did a unique piecing for the back that I'm really excited about. Best of all, I just happened to have 5 yards of perfect backing fabric in my stash, so I didn't even have to buy the backing.

Happy holiday weekend, friends. My daughter is home from college and I'm really enjoying my time off.
