If your rotary cutter is chewing fabric and needing multiple multiple cuts, change the blade. I have 10 new blades on hand yet I'm totally STOOPID!!! That is all.... /:-( Pami

Seriously, though, I dislocated my shoulder last December because I was too "frugal" to change my blade.

Another rotary cutter tip - if you think you need a new blade, and find out that Olfa blades are not compatible with a Fiskars cutter (which BTW they aren't), take the blade off the fiskars, grab a paper towel, and clean the lint off. It'll at least get you through until you get back to the LQS or JoAnns, right? And the next sale on blades should be Labor Day, maybe???

Or you can sharpen it. I've got an electric one and a manual. Both work great.

Re: Tip of the day...month...year...century...
I'll admit cutting my thumb nearly to the bone! When these beast first came out, I had one w/out a guard and on Christmas Eve, I was frantically finishing presents and sliced from the tip of my thumb to my knuckle. No time for the ER!!! Had to finish sewing, wrapping and get to my sisters!
I too, have heard about the foil trick, but have not tried it. I have one ruler that is frosted and has metal on the side and is supposed to sharpen your blade when you use it, but I can't stand the sound it makes (fingernails on chalkboards to me!), so I never use it!
pat.

Another tip: Remove oil on blade before putting it on the handle. (I finally read the directions. : D)

Which brands? I keep thinking about investing in one.
Thanks!
