Amigurumi Octopus Crochet Pattern in English from Swedish Blog
Hi Folks,
I copied the English Translation of the Blog into Word and saved it as a PDF for those who want to make these for the NICU department of hospitals in their areas.
I've included a link to Anna's original posting on the Forum yesterday.
http://forum.missouriquiltco.com/gen...-preemies.html
I've made amigurumis for my grandsons, Zander and Oliver, especially Zander who loves all things Japanese. lol
This story about the Premies holding on the tentacles instead of the tubing is amazing. ;) I'm going to get cotton yards to match up with the NICU quilts and give them out as sets. So excited that Anna shared this story, I've been in a funk for quite a while. This is just what I needed to get my creative juices flowing again...
Here's another sample of how you can do the body and face:

Thank you Anna!

Ruby thank YOU for doing this! :D :D :D To feel tha I have contributed, if only by spreading the word, sure is a wonderful feeling.
Re: Amigurumi Octopus Crochet Pattern in English from Swedish Blog
I posted the pattern for the little green one on the other thread (it's a little different than the greyish one, but not by much) so you can make two (slightly) different shapes if you wish :D

I've got a question... on line 11 and many following "11. 2Fm together 2 times during the lap (34)" Um, I have never seen F as an abbreviation in crocheting, what's it stand for?

One of the reasons why I translated the pattern for the little green guy in the other post, it confused me too lol FM stands for Fastmaska, which is a single crochet. So wherever you see FM you can safely substitute it with sc and LM = ch.

Thank you for catching that Dee. I haven't read it through line by line or made one yet. Will up date and probably modify when I have my go at it.

No worries, I already had to modify my translation because in trying to keep it "short and sweet" I made it a little too short and left out the part of how to attach the arms/legs/tentacle thingies lol

This thread reminded me of a story I saw awhile back on shopmartingale.com. It is an older story but the monsters are so cute and could be made for children in all types of situations. I don't know how to knit & can only crochet a chain but thought some of you might like this one too.
600 Monsters Strong ? and counting

Pam, that knitted monster with the baby in the pouch is sooo cute! Thanks for sharing that story.
With cooler weather coming and me not being able to sit at a machine for long periods at a time, crocheting will be one of the things I'll be doing more of. :)

I can't crochet. Can I make some out of cute socks?

Well it's the tight curled tentacles that the premies hold on to versus the tubes. However you could make sock monsters as toys for PICU or other toy drives coming up for the holidays. :)

Oh the curls make the difference? I bought a sock toy making book when I was on the mainland. So that sounds like a good plan too:)
