What do you need?
I thought all you do is push buttons and that the stitch you will use. Also my stitches are coming out once I sew a line. Any help would be wonderful
Does the store where you bought the machine offer a "how-to" class? I didn't even try to sew with my new machine until I learned all about it & went through the instruction class. Have you thoroughly read the owner's manual? You might check the internet for tutorials for your model machine. JCY
OK, I looked up the model you have. You are supposed to push a button to select a stitch and then sew. If they are very loose then you need to tighten your tension. Do you have this problem with a straight stitch?
Yes, I am going to find a tutorial on it. My husband bought it at Walmart.com. I am very new to quilting and he didn't want to spend that much in price.
Yes, even when I do a straight stitch
I have the Singer Confidence Quilter 7469Q and I made a boo boo on mine a while ago and all of my stitches were coming out horribly! I had just put in a new bobbin and set it on zig-zag and all of the stitches were actually floppy. I thought "Oh geez, when I was re-threading the top after winding a new bobbin I must have hit the tension dial", but it was on auto, like it always is. Nope, not that. Drove myself just about CRAZY trying to figure it out, re-threaded the whole machine. Well, the whole machine EXCEPT the bobbin. In my hurry to finish my project, when I dropped the bobbin in I just hauled it through the cutter and didn't put the thread through the little guide down there. So just make sure you didn't have a "duh" moment like I did lol
Yes, I guess tomorrow I will sit and really study it and re-thread the whole thing even the bobbin. What would make the stitches come out after I sew a straight line?
I love my 7469 so much I have two. The 7469 for piecing and the Q for quilting. Convinced DH to buy the second one. Now I don't need to change my walking foot. I recently purchased a 1/4 inch foot with a lip, WOW what a difference my seams are ! Now looking for a walking foot with a guide, mine keeps falling out:(. And Yes, the bobbin is finicky.

Two 7469's, I'm jealous! I will eventually get another machine with a bigger throat, but for now my Sally does the job (yes, I named her! lol)
When my bobbin wasn't threaded right, the stitches just pulled right out because there was only a top thread, there wasn't any bobbin thread being used at all because it wasn't run through the guide and I didn't the thread up because I was in a hurry. When you say the stitches are coming right out, are there two threads or one? If there's two, are they locking together at all? If not then that makes me think it's something going on in the bobbin area. I'm fairly new at sewing, so some of our more seasoned quilters may know exactly what the issue is :) But my guess would be to check out that bobbin, make sure it's in the right way and threaded through the little tension spring properly.
Didn't it have a manual, or failing that, a link to an online manual?
