Question I got my new sewing machine

I got my new sewing machine today, Fed Ex brought it. The first thing I did was take all my Brother presser feet and see if they would fit my new Singer and they do. How excited was I. This sewing machine is perfect for beginners, like me. It hat 77 different stitches.
I was wondering if somebody has a pattern for a baby quilt pattern that has appliques. I want to try it out and see how it comes out. I started doing the double hour glass but, that ended up in my stash scraps. Now I am working on a Fence Rail. I pray it comes out good. In a way, I just hope when I wash it, it doesn't fall apart, lol.

Congratulations on the new machine. I have not used a pattern for baby quilts. I just use either strips or charms so far. As for applique I pull images off of google or out of coloring books. You are going to have so much fun!

congrats on your new machine. It's so exciting. I'm waiting for my new Brother PE770 Embroidery machine to be delivered tomorrow. Can't wait to play. There were some pics of jelly roll quilts with some butterflies or other things appliqued on and they were really cute.

I have an old Janome Memory Craft 5000 that is sewing/emb., but it only does 4x4 and only with the cards, and the screen is starting to get a little darker. Still usable, but who knows how much longer the screen will last. Saw the Brother with a 5x7 area and usb design transfer for $570, so HAD to have it.

Congrats on your new machine> such fun playing with it, right? The only time I followed a pattern was my first baby quilt; it was a log cabin. The rest of them I just pick a block that I like and make it up as I go along.
My baby quilts have all been squares/pinwheels, stips, log cabin type things. I put animal appliques on the plain blocks of a nine-patch once; found free patterns on the Internet and copied them. I used fusible web to get them in place, as some of the animals had multiple layers in different fabrics. I machine stitched around the edges and echo-quilted around each animal. You can find great ideas from kids coloring books too! Good luck and have fun with it!
