Default Is it okay to leave my sewing machine in my car all day?

I want to go quilt with my buddies before work, but won't have time to take my machine home. I also don't want to lug it into work. Is it safe to leave it in the trunk of my car? I am concerned if it will cause oil to leak. It's expected to be in the 80's today. BTW, I have a cheap starter machine, nothing computerized.

I would think it would be alright, especially if it's not computerized. I would make sure it was sitting upright. I mean sewing machines were around before air conditioning and they were ok, right?

The don't have oil in them, only a few spots to keep it running smoothly. Put it on a bin bag if you're worried. Put it in the boot (trunk?) so it doesn't get stolen.

I had mine in the car all day and it was fine. Granted, mine isn't computerized either.

Do make sure that it won't get tossed around in the trunk while driving and you should be fine. There isn't an oil tank or anything in the machine to spring a leak. At that temp what little there is lubricating the part might get more runny, but if you are worried about that, then when you get her home, wipe off the needle and throat plate with a paper towel. That will let you know right away if oil ran down the needle and you won't mess up any fabric.

Mine has been known it sit in the car for several days with no problem. I do have a rolling tote that I take it in. Mine is not computerized, either.

Goofizzy, think about it, when they are in the warehouses, awaiting shipment, how hot does the warehouse get. Or when they are being shipped, either by boat or trailer truck, how hot does the container get? I don't think a couple of hours in the trunk of your car will cause it any damage. If it will make you feel better, park in a shaded area.
