Have you read Jennifer Chiaverini's books?
I am thinking of getting one or two of them to try them out. Any recommendations? Have any of you read them and do you like them?

Re: Have you read Jennifer Chiaverini's books?
I've read them all and I love them. I have the first 17 here, but collected them after I had read them. I got them from the library when I was reading them.
reading them in order is recommended because in most of the books it is a new story but also a continuation from the last one.

Cyndi......I've read the first two books in the Quilter's Apprentice series. I really enjoyed them........I probably need to read them again now that I am quilting. Start with the 1st book so you will know the characters. Did you find some in the book sale books? :D

I spoke to someone at the guild meeting last night (yes I did) who had one and she said it was very good. I know our library has some and DH is heading there tonight to do some work for our Saturday book sale so I asked him to pick me up one or two to check them out. I didn't know if anyone here read them and liked them. Now I do!

Re: Have you read Jennifer Chiaverini's books?
I have read the first few and really liked them. I have also read a few quilt, murder mystery books by Terri Thayer. Death by rotary cutter, too funny!

Re: Have you read Jennifer Chiaverini's books?
I've never heard of these. I just went and look and our library has several. Going Friday and will check one out. Which one is the first one?

Re: Have you read Jennifer Chiaverini's books?
The Quilters Apprentice
Round Robin
The Cross Country Quilters
The Runaway Quilt
That is the first 4 books. I suggest you read them in order. Books | Elm Creek Quilts | Jennifer Chiaverini | NEW YORK TIMES Bestselling Author of the Elm Creek Quilts Novels This is her website. The books are posted newest to oldest, so you will have to start at the bottom of the page to get the list in order. Some of them are quilt pattern books, to make the blocks and quilts mentioned in the books.

Re: Have you read Jennifer Chiaverini's books?
I read the Giving Quilt. I liked it but not well enough to read any more in the series. It did contain a slice of life portrayal in the characterization, but I was hoping the book would have more about quilts and not every character's back story. It got laborious to read at times.

I've read some of her books. Can't find the one you mentioned. Is it new?

Re: Have you read Jennifer Chiaverini's books?
Cyndi, I am reading these right now! I am loving them. They really remind me of THIS forum, and of the Doan Family's new quilting resort. I hope you enjoy them.

Re: Have you read Jennifer Chiaverini's books?
I've read them all and LOVE them, just found out yesterday a friend and her mother MET the author, and have an autographed book!
You might also enjoy The Cobbled Quilt Series, by Marie Bostwick. The characters are interesting, and the books make you want to travel to New England!

Re: Have you read Jennifer Chiaverini's books?

Marie Bostwick is coming to my quilt guild this October to talk about her books and to do a book signing. I guess I'd better read one of her books before then! Are they set in New England? I don't have to visit there - it's where I live!

Re: Have you read Jennifer Chiaverini's books?
Which one is the first one? I would love to read it to add to my Christmas list for hubby. I love Nora Roberts and Dean Koontz but he tends to buy me ones I have already read.
I love stories that are set in New England, not a prerequisite but enjoyable.

Cyndi, how fabulous that you are having MARIE BOSTWICK at your guild meeting! If I were a jealous type person, I think I'd be turning all sorts of shades of green! And you live in New England, it always sounds so picturesque *sigh*. I live in Iowa, with it's lovely, subtle beauty. :)

Green is my favorite color! You should turn Forest Green - that's always nice. I guess from your post you like her books?
It's almost the perfect time of year here in New England. Fall is unbelievably gorgeous. It's what I love most about living here.

Is it New England thing? Fall is my favorite time of year. We never want to come inside from our deck, just sit and ponder while looking at the beautiful trees.

Re: Have you read Jennifer Chiaverini's books?
I have read all the Elm Creek books and have them all. I enjoyed them very much.
I bought each one as it became available in paper back and have read them several times. A friend lent me one to read and I was hooked.

Re: Have you read Jennifer Chiaverini's books?
You should start with the first book, and work your way through the series, so you will get to know the characters, and so everything will make sense.... You'll love them all!

"The Quilter's Apprentice" is the first book in the Elm Creek Quilts series. There are 19 books in all. I was able to find books 1, 3 and 4 at my library but they don't have book 2. What's up with that?

Cyndi, much of our home is in varying shades of green, it is my favorite color:)
I really enjoy Marie Bostwicks books, she develops the charachters, and weaves a thoughtful story, using issues from the present.

My library will only search the "network" of other libraries if you ask. I always ask now.

I forgot about ILL. I'll ask about it tomorrow for Book #2. Thanks, Lisa. You're a genius.

Re: Have you read Jennifer Chiaverini's books?
I read a few of her books, and while they were nice they didn't really hold my attention. Cyndi, I am willing to give you mine if you want them.....shall we call it a belated birthday present?

Re: Have you read Jennifer Chiaverini's books?
Jennifer Chiaverini will be doing a trunk show at the Madison, Wis. quilt expo on Sept. 5 & 6. I am hoping to get in to see her, I have read a couple of her books and enjoyed them.

Re: Have you read Jennifer Chiaverini's books?
I went to Goodwill today and by chance they had "The Quilter'a Apprentice" for 37 cents!!! I will read it and bring it along to the gathering at Missouri Star in October for anybody else interested in reading it. I also got the Little House on the Prairie series of books for $3.00. One of these days I will have someone interested in reading them and it was just too good of a deal to pass up.
