I think it was Jean that said she would make a bigger size? I'm looking at my templates.. Dresden, pyramid, ect and don't know if I'm in love with this because of the skill level.

Lorie, I have the 10", 5", and the 2.5". I've used the 5 and 2.5, but not the 10 as of yet. I liked the 5 quite well, so I think I will also like using the 10. Especially, since my step mother made 2 quilts using that one and I've found it to be quite pretty.
As for the skill level. If you follow the rather simple instructions/diagram, I think you would do quite well.
I have the 10" and 5" and have used both. Not all that difficult, awkward to cut, at least for me. I did a row at a time, pinned the blocks in order then did the next row so I could keep the order right.
Lorie, I don't know about the skill level - but I do remember Jean saying that there was waste involved.
Unless I suppose you could use the scraps for something else - that and you do have to pay close attention to construction.
Hope that helps.
Okay I just watched the video. It doesn't look too hard, just more time consuming than anything. I really like the big one in the back!
I like the big quilt at the back too.
Jenny said there is waste, but you can use that with the next size down ruler and the waste from that for the next size down again.
Tha 10" gives up pieces about charm square size. The 5" gives up about 2" squares. Who knows about the tiny twister, it will give up the tiniest of scraps! I love the look, so I will make more twister patterns. It is not hard, but you need to cut and sew one row at a time unless you are a genius at putting together puzzles!
Does anyone know where to get the tiny twister? I'm googling, but I can't find it.
Attachment 53864You can get them from Primative Gatherings, who were given permission br Country Schoolhouse to produce the tiny twister rulers. This is the link to the smallest one but I bought one starting with 3-1/2" squares from them. Picture is not for the tiniest ruler, but the one above it, cuts down to a 2" pinwheel.

This is the big twister quilt I made for my mom, using 10" layer cake. The "waste" material I used to make the border. There is some waste with each twister tool, but if you are very careful when cutting, you can "recycle" the waste!
I have the Itty Bitty Twister tool. You start with 2 1/2" blocks, the final piece ends up being 1". I tried it and decided this was too small for me. I am willing to give you the one I have. If you want it, PM me your address and I will send it to you!
This twister has always fascinated me.. so I bought the 5 inch (DD price). I can always to place mats, right?? Or do I need that tiny one?? And am looking forward to a Pumpkin or Witch Hat.. Now to find the time to use it... LOL
Gayle, what a beautiful quilt! Great job!
Thanks, Lorie! It was really fun to make!
Thanks, Misa!
