Short on Space Ideas

Hello everyone, I just finished all my blocks for the Atltered Squares quilt. Now for a place to lay them out. I usually use the guest bed. I was thinking of purchasing a set of drapery rod brackets that would hold a one inch wooden rod, attaching them just below the current set that cover a pair of double doors in that room. That way I could hang material to arrange my blocks. When guest come I would simply remove and store the rod. Does this seem like a workable idea? What type of material would I use? I would appreciate any suggestions and ideas. Thanks

Flannel or batting should work. Some people use a flannel-backed table cloth. You probably don't want it out all the time as that material likes to pick up stray threads and fuzz.

I tried some poly batting. But that stuff is like Velcro and threads are hard to get off! So I'm changing it to felt. My shop said that's what they use. It was under $10 a yard. It comes really wide. What I don't use I'm going to use for mug rugs etc.

I hung a clothes line and attached a plain white king size flat sheet to hang my projects so I could see them. This is a double sized quilt I am making. 9 patch blocks.. I have already sewn into rows but I haven't sewn the rows yet. I use pins to attach it to the sheet. It is easy, cheap and works very well.

I have a queen sized cotton batting on my wall. Blocks stick to it very well.

I used fleece that I had no use for and it works out pretty good...occasionally needs to have threads removed and I use a lint roller and I am ready to go again!

I used a 50% coupon at Joann's and bought the Fons and Porter design wall. I am going to hang it with a rod and it isn't wide enough for what I need so I am going to get another one with another coupon. I like it because it has grid lines and I spent a lot of time looking for a vinyl table cloth with checks and never found one so this was just easier because it has grommets in it already.

I was going to suggest either felt or flannel, as it seems to be the cheapest thing that works.

I have heard of using a roll up shade recovered with a flannel-backed vinyl tablecloth. Pull it down when you want the design wall & roll it up when you want it out of the way. I understand that you can even leave some blocks on the fabric when you roll it up.

I use felt. It is held to the wall by binder clips which are attached to Command hooks. Attachment 53817
