Re: Has anyone else noticed?
I don't follow EB. I have seen some great technique, but I don't enjoy being talked to like a child. She would have been a GREAT grade school teacher, for sure! I saw a video of her teaching her ex-husbands offspring a 'trip around the world' quilt. It was lovely, for KIDS. Just sayin...
Jenny, on the other hand, has a teaching style that is more relatable to grown ups.
Both fall short, in my humble opinion, on teaching accuracy for newbies. I haven't been sewing my entire life. I'm just getting the accuracy down.
'Squaring off' the block is SO relevant, and the 'quilt in a day', and 'quilting quickly' methods don't really address this.
I'm not looking to enter my quilt in competition, but I would want it to be close to their finished result.
SIGH.
Another SIGH....
I really need to get off the exclamation point.

I love Jenny's tutorials and I love the fact that Natalie has come up with some cool templates for us...that being said I do also watch the Gourmet Quilter and enjoy her but it isn't the same as watching Jenny.....I have taken both of Jenny's classes on Craftsy and learned allot of little tips and tricks from her....she has helped me tremendously in enjoying the process of quilting from choosing fabrics all the way to finishing the binding....there is no one like our Jenny!

I LOVE the Gourmet Quilter, as well. Really great tutorials. Fons and Porter are out of touch, or maybe they're in touch with experienced, hard-core quilters. That's not me.
I get their magazine, I will be NOT renewing.
I will follow Jenny, always. She has to be ELATED, and blind-sided to some degree,
Who KNEW?
GREAT things really DO happen to good people!!

I like Jenny & I like Fons & Porter too. I think Fons & Porter is really good at showing the "right" way of doing things and showing a newbie like me the best practices.
However, I agree with Sandy B that Jenny's tutorials are the ones that actually get me sewing --- and feeling good about what I make rather than discouraged because it isn't perfect!!

Re: Has anyone else noticed?
Great discussion.. and Well earned praise for Jenny's tutorials. I've enjoyed sewing more than any time in my life after seeing several of her videos.
I learn from each person I've watched on the net.. even the blogs have taught me stuff and helped me grow. I've a long way to go and will never absorb half of it all, but the JOY of making this trip is soo worth all my time and $$. Now I understand my Grandmothers Love of Fabric and Quilting!! I wish she could see the fabric we have today.. She'd be hoarding every piece she could get!!! And Maybe she would share her secrets with me... (which she never did with anyone in life)

I really enjoy Jenny's tuts. I learned how to bind a quilt with the machine instead of hand sewing and not feel guilty about it from her. What a great feeling that was. I was feeling horrible because everything I had read said you had to hand sew or its not done right and that's not for me at all. Jenny cheerfully explained how to do it and made me feel like it was a vialble option. I did learn how to do flying geese from Fons and Porter, I do enjoy thier shows too.

Re: Has anyone else noticed?
EBurns has had videos on her website for years. Not many knew they were there though. Same with Kaye Wood, Shar Jorghenson , Billie Lauder, and Georgia Bonesteel's websites. The older quilt names have semi retired and not many new quilters know about them.

Re: Has anyone else noticed?
EB's Log Cabin Quilt in a Day was the first quilt I made. And I was so proud of myself. Now that I actually know how to hand quilt as opposed to just tying a quilt, I may have to pull that quilt down from the wall and put some real quilting on it! Oh, and I agree with some previous posters about EB's voice . . . I just can't listen to her. Her books are fine and I've learned something from each of them. But as far as watching tuts . . . Jenny's the best!!
