I am home alone and I swear there is another entity here; my alter ego! Yes, that one, the "she devil" took over and directed me to cut my layer cakes.
Well, what the heck did she know? She cut all of them in half for my double slice and refused to watch the video once more. Now they're all wrong and now I have to cut them all in half again and start out with another pattern. I'll do the D9P. Too bad the windows are open right now or I'd give her a piece of my mind! :icon_tape:
lol I think I may have one in my head that I could stop before it's too late. I want to do an hourglass with a layer cake but I want to cut the size down. My hand is itching to pick up the cutter. lol
I love D9P's. it might be a happy mistake:)
Sharon, have you ever considered that you and the Double Slice are just not meant to be? Maybe she's trying to tell you something.
Maybe your alter ego knows better than you do this time. :icon_bigsmile: The D9P may be what your layer cakes need...lol
Oh, a big YES to that Karen! Never again! Double Slice to me means two different personalities working the same pattern. Right now I figure that I was lucky to be able to cut the layer cakes into 5" pieces and at least I can salvage the fabric. I am so *P%## with myself over this one.Quote:

my alter ego doesn't cut much but she loves to hide things and sew things the wrong way to see if I will catch her. At least its salvageable and could very well be a happy mistake.
The D9P is just as easy to make...have fun!!
Why not cut one pile in two strips and sash them to each side of the larger one. Trim them to fit up and down and side ways.......D9P is always great too!!
Oh, happy accidents! You gotta love them. Look at it this way, now you don't have one layer cake, but FOUR charm packs! :icon_happy:

Sorry that happened but I think the DP9 is just perfect.

You guys are too funny. Sorry about your layer cake, but like they say, every mistake is a new creation. Maybe next time you need to have a talk with your alter ego and discuss which fabric she wants for the double slice, :icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl:
I so feel your pain and severe aggravation Sharyn.......I did almost the same thing. And when my evil alter ego comes out....as in the words of a friend I want to say all sorts of "Sunday School" (NOT) words! :icon_tape: :icon_tape: I wanted to do a double slice and wasn't paying close attention to the markings on my Creative Grids ruler. Look at it & lay it one way you get "correct" measurements.....look at it & lay it the other way & it adds 1/2". Well I laid it down with the half inch added and ended up with my layer cake being sliced at 5 1/2". grrrr! So I just went with it and followed through and have my own "version" of the double slice. All of my blocks are sewn & squared...now I just have to sew them together. Bought fabric for my inner & outer borders yesterday.

Mine took over the other day on a 'Catalina' charm pack, and decided to give the 'Fallen Charms' quilt a try...
AFTER I had placed a DD order in for a solid white charm pack, with a HST quilt in mind.
Truth is, I have a short attention span, and the last row of my queen quilt was NOT going together well, and I needed to walk away, but still wanted to SEW. Sigh. Another sigh..
