Re: A bit ticked off up date
Hang in there Ann, make a point of seeking someone else out to befriend, and you will be surprised at how fast you will find friends there. Go with the intent to make a friend and to have some fun! Best Wishes dear.
Re: A bit ticked off up date
Ann, I'm glad you spoke up for yourself. The owner needs to have these days planned a little better so everyone has a space and perhaps she will make more of an effort to see that all of her customers are accommodated.
I think it's good for you to get out and socialize, sew, have some fun. Hopefully everything will be much better next time. I wish I could go. My local quilt shops have all closed and the closest one is about 45 minutes. The owner & his wife and all their help are a bunch of stuffie ones, so I doubt that I'd ever punish myself to attend such a cold environment. I'm afraid my mouth has grown a lot more over the years than my maturity! lol I usually have no problem speaking my mind and I'm glad that you told the owner and will give it another try. Hugs
Re: A bit ticked off up date
Ann......glad you had a chance to talk with the owner. I hope everything goes a lot better this next time. No one needs that "back in high school" feeling again.........we've already been there and done that. :)
Re: A bit ticked off up date
glad you spoke up. I'm also kinda shy till I get to know someone and I would feel the same as you. Try to get there a little early and look for someone else who is sitting alone, even if she is just waiting for someone else, sit down and introduce yourself and maybe they will make you feel more welcome. Don't give up and remember how you feel if you see someone who looks new and might need a friend.
Re: A bit ticked off up date
Ann, I am really glad that you talked with her. The biggest shocker to me once I got out of high school and college was that it never changes. People will forever try to be the "cool" kids and there will always be "mean girls". What do I do? Remember the progression. The "cool kids & mean girls" all end up frustrated and in loveless marriages. They might have the biggest house on the street but it is either the loudest house from yelling or the loneliest from not having even one true friend.
Re: A bit ticked off up date
Ann, so glad you got a chance to speak to the owner and let her know your feelings. Also glad you are going to give it another try. Hoping you can find a place for yourself amongst the quilters at the shop.
Re: A bit ticked off up date
Thank you all I am going to go back there with a positive attitude and have a good time sewing . Hugs to all.
Re: A bit ticked off up date
I'm glad you spoke to her. She needs this kind of feed back too to make the gathering enjoyable for everyone. I'm sure you will see how well it goes at the next meeting.
Re: A bit ticked off up date
I'm glad you spoke with them, Ann. I have met the owners and they don't seem like the type of people who would appreciate this type of treatment to their customers. You go back and hold your head high!!
Re: A bit ticked off up date
Good for you Ann, Hope that the next Play Date is a good one.
