I have a fondness for Coach purses. We were at an outlet today and I held in my hands a beautiful purse. Even at 50% off I could not bring myself to buy it.. All I could think about was how much fabric I could buy instead! And then, I found a 20% coupon for Fabric Depot!!. SCORE!!

I gotcha. I understand completely. You know you're a goner when you think about "how much fabric you could have bought with the money..." I've done it so much times, it actually helps me stay on budget.....until I get to the LQS.

My quilting buddy and I talk in terms of "how many yards that would have bought" when we discuss other family members wasteful spending.

I am right there with you. I am a new quilter and purses/handbags/pocketbooks have been a passion (bordering on obsession) for years. They are one thing you can never outgrow! But now I would much rather buy fabric!

I relate. Hubby and I just had a discussion about money and we both agreed I never spend money except of quilting stuff. I even had my daughter snag a couple DD's when I was sick. She would come over in the morning, get the kids settled and check the DD for me. Never failed, "really Mom, you need this?"
