Vent!!!
I am sssooo fed up with not getting what I pay for/what the package says you're getting!!! Argh!!!
Bought 2 mini jelly rolls (20 strips each) from Spotlight (like Joanns), coz they're quite pretty and were 40% off...which sounds a lot but being really overpriced to begin with that only made them a bit cheaper than what I usually pay for a REAL ONE....so I designed something for them and unrolled them.
First thing I found was there were 3 strips missing. At that point I should e returned them but no, 40% off I should t complain right? So I completely redid my pattern to allow for the missing strips.
Then I discovered 2 more things, not only were they not all 2.5" wide (ranging between 2.25" and 2.75" wide), ALL the narrower ones were cut wonky and had a bend in them.....arghhhhh!!!
So to straighten them up I had to cut them back to 2"....all 37 strips!!!!
I am NOT HAPPY. I was a manager with this company for years and know they're shonky, but this is ridiculous!! They're getting an abusive letter, sssooooo fed up with sub standard goods.
And the stoopid lazy lil cow what ripped my off at Maccas this morning is gonna get complained about too, doesn't anyone CARE anymore????
Cranky, Pami :-(

Re: Vent!!!
Pami, writing a letter to complain about bad service is a good idea. BUT, don't let your anger get in the way. Try to keep your letters professional and only explain the facts. From my personal experience, this will get you farther than to let your anger out in your letter. You can say things like, "I am very angry at the service I received", or "There are other stores I can shop at," something like these. I hope this helped. Good luck.

Re: Vent!!!
Pami,
I bought four of those rolls last week too (they were 30% at of Spotlight here for about two weeks). Firstly as a newbie, I was disappointed to find they only had half the number of strips we read about on the jelly rolls mentioned on this forum.
I used two rolls of them today and yesterday to make a jelly roll top. I didn't count the number of strips but the cutting was definitely wonky. Also I'm sure the quality of the strips varied too - some felt very thin while others were thick.
I'm glad I sewed them quickly after unrolling them because they frayed quite badly during the sewing.
I will now be wary of Spotlight rolls made in Pakistan although all their fabrics seem to come from China, India or Pakistan.

Re: Vent!!!
Pami,
I lodged a complaint soon after writing the above via their contact page on the Spotlight website and they just called me as a result of it. They are going to look into my complaint. We'll see if it goes anywhere.

Well at least they took the trouble to contact you!
I hope they offer to refund you and then send you a complimentary roll as a peace offering - (no harm in hoping LOL)

Re: Vent!!!
I feel your pain Pami. I find this with a lot of non quilting items we buy lately.

Here is a tutorial on how to sew wonky strips together without having to cut them down. http://www.bearpawproductions.com/us...May%20Vary.pdf
