A bit ticked off.
I went to the LQS for a Thursday night get together from 5 -7. I didn't bring my sewing machine tonight because I was going to hand sew binding. I got all my things together that I knew I needed in a tote and headed out.Well I got there and there was no place to park in the lot so I had to go out on the street.
I went in the room we usually go in and there was absolutely no place for me to sit. Several ladies must have got there about 45min to an hour early because they had all their machines set up and I got there about 20 min. before 5.
One lady said maybe you could sit at the end of the cutting table since you don't have your machine. I looked at how high the cutting table was and there was no way I could sit there and do anything. It was so high I would have had to stand.
So I walked out. I was so mad and I don't plan on any more Thursday night sewing there.
Ok that is my rant but I am still mad. Maybe tomorrow I will get over it but not tonight.
Thanks for letting rant and rave.

Hugs Ann

How disappointing. No wonder you are upset. I sometimes go to Bernina Club at the local machine shop and feel like an outsider - one time the instructor was too busy chatting to show us what to do and I came home so mad!!!!

That just wasn't right. I have never done a class and wonder if I should.

That sounds crazy! I've never been to a quilting class and I'm not sure if there are any near me but I know I would've been frustrated and left too----it wouldn't have been a relaxing or enjoyable time with that many people. I'm surprised there isn't a sign up with a max # on things like that to avoid this situation. I hope you were still able to get some fun sewing time in at home.

Re: A bit ticked off.
My LQS is closed now, but she also did month gatherings. We had to sign up as there were only so many spots available. There was no fee, but she only allowed as many as seating and tables could handle. That way, everyone was assured a seat and sewing area. I'd be mad too if I lugged all my stuff cross town and there was no room for me.

l wouldn't have been able to stop myself and would have said "nah l'll sit on the floor shall l " ...then said "seeing there is nowhere to sit l may as well go home" and said it loud enough for everyone to hear then turned on my heel and walked out ............but that's just me ....surely someone could have made some room....

Sounds like the shop needs a bigger place so everyone that is interested will have space. It also sounds like the owner's rather than the participants problem. Seems like the other ladies have learned that to get a place you have to arrive very early.

How disappointing! It sounds like there should be 2 sewing groups. Maybe one for daytime hours and the other that is already in session. The shop should make room for everyone.

Re: A bit ticked off.
They do have a bigger room but that was taken for a group retreat. I did tell one of the ladies that works there that I was leaving because I had no place to sit. I really don't think they care . Makes me even more angry because I just bought a real expensive Janome there in Feb and a smaller one to take to the sewing get together. I think most of them have their own little circle of friends and have been going there for some time.
But I might suggest that they do start a sign up list. That would solve the problem. I know for Play day they have a list because only 28 can fit in the big room but that one you do pay for.
