Default Bailey's Home Quilter Pro 15 question

Ok, I see so many post talking about the Sweet 16 and can't remember the name but there is another that is supposed to be just like the sweet 16. My question is why is there not more people that go for the Bailey's Home Quilter Pro 15 or 17? From what I can see both can be sit down machines and for more than 1/2 the price. I see they are not quite as fast, is that the issue? Are they just not as dependable? I would really like to know as their price honestly makes a long arm sit down machine something that might be doable for me in the future.

Anyone here have one and love it? Hate it? If so why?

The main bad thing I see about the Bailey's is the position of the machine and it is especially bad on the 17". There is NO way that you can sit in front of the needle, which is the place that you really should be sitting at any machine. The head of the Bailey's reaches way too far to the left. You would either have to lean or straddle the leg of the table or just not be able to clearly see what you are doing. The other machine that you are trying to think of is the Babylock Tiara. Both it and the HQ Sweet 16 are positioned so that the head of the machine faces you. A much better set-up.

Good point. Do you think if you made your own cabinet/table for it that would make the difference? You definitely need to be stationed in front of the needle.

I have the Bailey 17" on my Grace Pinnacle Frame.... I love the machine... it's sturdy, simple and strong.. The only draw back is that if your used to a "high speed" industrial machine ie... my Janome 1600p... the speed difference is quite stark! The THROAT difference is worth it to me...I find the Bailey very easy to thread... using the instructions that are simple and to the point... DH is a retired machinist, so that is why I went with it... there is NOTHING on this machine that he cannot fix or repair with a simple phone call to "Chuck" in NY, where it is built... he's a sweetie who will talk to any customer... if your shopping or need help.. he's available to speak to! Having a more expensive machine would certainly have been a great thing, (and if God forbid i'm ever left alone, it will be my first purchase ... but in the meantime.. i'm NOT an award winner, nor do I want to be,, I just LOVE being able to quilt my work and fabric in a jiffy and be done and on to the next quilt... Charity and "friends" love what I give them and I have a great time being creative...So if your concern is sitting,, take advice, and perhaps build a table, but I have no problem adjusting myself to whatever works this well!! Hope this helps you!!! Barbara

I think it would work a lot better with a different table. I'm not sure how/where you load the bobbin on the Bailey, but you may even be able to turn it to sit like a Sweet 16.

Thanks, ladies for your input. GrammaBabs, I get the impression that you wouldn't advice for someone that doesn't have a tech living with them?

I haven't bought one yet but my plan is too. I quilted on a friends all last year. They are basic machines but nothing a NEED a tech for. I did 7 quilts last year with pantograghs. I think it's a great buy. I worked with one a frame but if you call Chuck he would probably tell you what you would need or not need for your sit down needs. The bobbin is under the needle plate. Good luck
