Thanks for the iron mat idea! I've been saving ideas all year and here's my wish list. I need to get busy! I'd also like to make some little quilted gift card holders but haven't found just the right thing yet (easy but good looking!)

Bowl Potholder - Microwave - I'm giving a go at these instead of the little mitts but we have a lot of soup lovers in the family.

Quilt As You Go Potholders - easy and fun
A while ago, sewbizzy posted pictures of her quilt-as-you-go potholders and I loved the idea. Made some to match my kitchen accessories and then went crazy making a bunch for everyone whose kitchen colors I knew! Great practice for improving my bindings. I had a 7-1/4" square ruler and using that to square them off made a perfect size for me. Here's her post.

    Double Diamond Bookmarks
Hoping to make some bookmarks since I bought the ruler. While I love the finish on those in the video, I've never done that so will make a simpler version - perhaps a decorative stitch around the edge and pinking outside the stitches.

They're just small mats that roll or fold to take to class They are made with ironing board fabric, insulbrite batting and a backing.

I've made pillowcases - usually tailored to a person's favorite color or interest.

Also last year I made the teachers I help in the classrooms a Snap Bag. These are the bags that use the metal measuring tapes for the enclosure part. I don't have a link for that for you, but I'm sure if you google it, something will come up. If you have never made them before, I suggest you make one or two as a sample and also make sure in the end that your sides of the bags don't have any holes in the seams (I didn't sew in far enough, I found out). These go fast and I made about 20 in about 2 days by doing them in assembly line fashion. I put a bottle of lotion in each one and a small list of suggestions on what they could use the bags for. Makeup, extra little things you carry around in your purse, one gal uses it as her camera case, etc. I even made a larger one for a child and put in an activity book with a set of new markers to keep her busy while she was recouperating from a tonsil surgery. They can be made any size. If you decide to make these, send me a PM cause I have a few good hints on making them.

    Hugs!

I'm making fabric iron holders to take your iron to class or to a retreat. It closes with a button and has a handle. When you unbutton it, it has the silver lining on the inside and doubles as a small ironing mat. I found it on some obscure website and ordered the pattern while looking around Google. Finally, I have something cool to give as gifts for Christmas IMO.

I like those microwave bowls! A set of different sizes would make a great gift. Need to check the other links out!

I'm getting lots of great ideas here. Don't forget to make yourself some reusable fabric gift bags. I make them in all sizes. My GD's love getting smaller gifts in these bags. If you use quilting cotton, interface the exterior fabric with fusible medium interfacing. They're really quick to make, and maybe, if you're lucky, you'll get the bag back with a gift for you! (maybe that's why they're called reusable gift bags. LOL
