Re: Treadle Machine--anyone experienced in using one?
It looks like the one I have - it was a wedding present for my inlaws. Mine needs a belt - my MIL thought I was crazy that I wanted hers - she also had her mother's, which my SIL got -- fine with me - I just think they are great. Someday, I would like to get it working. I also have my grandma's electric Singer that she has put on a different base and re-wired herself. I did sew with it for awhile and had it professionally re-wired when it started sparking at me - the electrical tape grandma had used was falling apart. :)

Just beautiful. I think you paid a very fair price.

I learned to sew on a treadle machine when I was about 6. The main thing that I remember is you simply need to get in a rhythm. I remember coming home from school and finding out that my mom had traded it on an electric machine. I went to my room and cried.

That looks like a lovely machine. Several members of my family had them and they're great to sew with. But you do have to get the rhythm right which takes a while to get the hang of.
