Default How many of you attach a label onto your finished projects? And....

    And what do you include?

I have thought to make it simple contact information so someone can contact me in the future to make something else.

I have thought about creating a name for my 'business' and creating an e-mail just for that name.

I have thought about the business name a lot. But I can't decide. I thought about including the name of the area that I live to let people know they are getting something made local. I don't plan on retiring on this, just want to make enough to pay for more fun stuff for me like fabric runs or buying fun new tools. But in case it takes off I want to have the right name from the beginning.

I make quilts and bags.. And commissioned for strange things like a bee mascot pillow, and etc.

I want to 'tag' it so people come back for more. Just curious how many do it, and what you include?

    Thanks Kelly

I'm new to quilting but have been sewing for years. I'm finishing up my 1st quilt but my husband insists we keep it. However, I've thought about tagging my quilts mainly for generational information and also so when I do start gifting them that the recipients family will know where it came from years from now. I plan on putting the basic information on my tags---The name of the person I gave it to, my name as the maker, and the year it was made. I will possibly add why it was given if it was a special occasion like a birth or wedding. I had never put tags in my clothing but often thought about it since I had sold some of them on ebay.

I've seen a lot of people on this forum that do sell their items on different websites but since I'm so new I won't be doing this for awhile.

I would definitely recommend you putting a tag on it including your name and creating a name for your business. Since phone numbers can change over time, I would recommend setting up a general web page and listing that on the tag so that over time your web page can change and grow. Plus you could include personal information on the site, maybe a blog of your process, and items for sale. I don't have a web page but I've been told that they're fairly easy to setup and there are lots of online tutorials for basic ones and getting started.

Thank you. There are so many web places out there!! I plan on trying to make extras to sell. But so far I am booked up! Hahaha. I have seen folks set up shop at Etsy.com.

    So many options!

Quilt labels have been one thing I have not done on my first 2 quilts. I regret it, but found a tutorial on how to make them with transfer paper and ribbons. They look like a shirt tag that you can sew into the binding. I am only doing this as a hobby until I get a little bit better so as of now, I am only going use something generic like:

I figure that will be easy enough for now. I hope this helps you a little. :-)

My business name is "Rainy Day Creations" and I put it on any quilt I sell but not on personal quilts for friends or family. I add a label to most of my quilts that include the name of the quilt (I try to name all of my quilts), the recipient if it's made for someone in particular, my full name, my hometown and state and the date the quilt was made or finished. I wish I had this information on the two antique quilts I own!

Hi Kelly, I attach a label to my projects as well. I like to use my embroidery machine to make them.

I stitch my label into my binding. I put my name, the city and state and month and year the quilt was completed.

Since I keep the majority of the quilts I make all I do is use a sharpie and put my initials and the year it was made. I do that with friends and family I have given quilts to as well but I don't use anything I'm donating.
