If its anything like the Winchester Christmas Markets it should be a sell-out. Do post lots of pictures as we'd love to see what you will be selling.
Strange that you should book a 'chalet' for the sale. I have just booked a stall for two days, Tuesday and Friday 2 weeks before Christmas at our local farmers market.
I am toiling a bit for ideas, but will do some of the run of the mill stiff, like pot holders table mats and casserole mats, as well as cushions, stockings and bunting. I have a pattern for a wall hanging I made some years ago, by leaving the first two bottom bits on I can make smaller ones, which have been popular in the past.
I know your stuff will sell well, you make some really lovely things. Hope the 11000 is behaving itself..........I did not sell my 12000 I could do with the cash, but am hanging on for the time being. Rumours abound that Janome are bringing out a replacement for the 12000 in the US next month. A lot of people are not impressed, me included, its only 3 years at Christmas sonce they brought out the 12000 as 'the wonder machine'!!
It's natural to be nervous and excited and terrified and all those lovely crazy emotions when we do something outside of our comfort zone. This is all good, gets the adrenaline going, extra oxygen to the blood.....well the stomach flutters can be a bit disquieting but hey, its like a ride on the roller coaster. :icon_bigsmile:
Now, a bit of a "mommy wagging finger" time. Young lady, we are our own worst critics at times. Doesn't mean we are right, it's just an internal dialogue that really should be told to shut up. Just look at all the people who believe in you......are you saying they are wrong, have no taste, no sense of style or understand quality products???? Of course not!!! So when that little gremlin of negativity start whispering......give him a boot in the bum, bring back to your mind all the wonderful ooohs and aaaahs your work has given to so many people.
I think your helpers should make a 'mission statement' to hang in your chalet too. A little sign in the theme of the show with a sentiment about the beauty of what quilts really represent. Something about how the life of a quilt encompasses comfort, love, endures the ages and soothes as a mother's gentle hand. How the stockings represent wishes, hopes and dreams. Your pot holders represent the love of life, the taste of home and the memories of childhood. (There was a lovely post about why one lady quilts, read it and you will get the idea.) This adds another dimension to the selling feature.....you are not just selling a product, you are selling a feeling behind it. People love the idea of acquiring something that has a lineage or a "story" behind it. Just a thought.
Believe in yourself, in your work and in people to know something special when they see it. I am so excited for you and can't wait to hear about all the wonderful experiences you will have.
Sounds like fun, just remember to wrap up warm and have a flask with a drop of mother's ruin in it to keep you going! I'm sure everything you make will be snapped up but why couldn't you have had it in Yorkshire then I could have popped in to buy something!
That'll be terrific fun!!!! Now get to work!!! :-)
Huggs, Pami
OHhhhhh! Good for you, Daisy! Like others said already, there is no way you'll come home with all of your creations. Rather I think you will have only a few piesces or even none left... Your work is beautiful and the customers will love it! Please post pictures of your makings and the market and and ...
Hugs,
Steffie
