Congratulations! I spent 4 yrs sewing with my dress form in the closet and sewed on a 42 inch round kitchen table in our old house. In this house I spent 4 yrs with my dress form in a corner of my daughters room and sewed on our dining room table. All of my fabric was always in bags in a closet. I now have DD's old room as my sewing room. I love it. I for the first time since being a child have a room of my own that no one has any reason to be in without me! My girly space and my space to create!

Kelly - fabric walls? I've never heard of it but just last night I was thinking about doing something to make walls downstairs. I already have piled up my plastic bins and other furniture holding my stash to help to make walls, but I LOVE your idea!
If anyone needs me, I'll be back later. I have fabric walls to figure out and put up! Thanks!

Kelly, you are going to love having a dedicated space for sewing. I used to sew in my diningroom for a long time too, then I took over my eldest daughters room when she moved out and I absolutely love it. Well have lots of fun designing and putting your room together and please post pictures when you are finished...........Leslie![]()

A friend of mine did it in her basement 'media room'.. Lol. She hung black curtains and you wouldn't know any different! I figure I may use furniture tacs or I have used a closet rod before.. The cheaper the better.. I think I may look for some cheap but pretty sheets to use instead of buying fabric... Unless I can't resist on some good priced fabric!
How awesome that you are getting a room for your studio! I don't blame you for not being able to sleep last night. Your head must be spinning with great ideas for how to set it up!

How exciting is that! sound wonderful. Have fun designing.

God has a plan and it is a good plan.
I am sew happy for you! I've thought of moving to the basement, but since it isn't finished, I've not done it. However, I also have a spare room. Please post pictures when you are finished. I really would like to see what you do.

I used totes to make a wall before too... Hahaha. I am sooooooo excited.. Having trouble keeping my mind on work. I will have to go hands on tonight to relieve some pressure off of my brain.. And yes, I will post pics!
My basement walls have been painted yellow, it really lightens up the darkness of the area. My husband also hung a few industrial size fluorescent light fixtures and it makes a big difference. You are going to have soooo much fun setting up your sewing room - be sure to take some pictures, I'd love to see them!!
