Re: Jenny's newest tutorial....Alter Ego Quilt
You really want to cut those charm squares into 2.5" squares and quarter one on the diagonal to make HSTs? Those are tiny and the finished size of each 4 patch would be 4" and the same for the hourglass block, that is if you keep a consistent 1/4" seam.
I figure maybe you were thinking to sew 4 charms together to get her 4 patch, which works, but there's no way you can get a layer cake sized hourglass block out of charms.

I don't think I would do that with just a charm pack. Such small pieces. Although, there are plenty of quilters who work with the small and tiny pieces to quilt. I'm just not one of them.

Re: Jenny's newest tutorial....Alter Ego Quilt
Y'all are right......as I said, it's Friday and my mind "just went with the idea"....obviously not a good one. I have several layer cakes that I can use.....but I have sooooo many charm packs (my "collection"
is getting out of hand). I have the Pezzy Print LC, a newer one called Fabrique-istan (both from M*), In From the Cold by Kate Spain (moda) from LQS, and TWO Riley Blake just called Cotton Small Dots--each has 14 pieces for a total of 28--not the traditional 42 piece LC. Decisions, decisions........

I wonder how this particular pattern would look using the Ellie May fabric line?

Does the Ellie May line have enough variety between light and dark?

is there a reason that you cant make the 4-patch blocks like you do the hour glass blocks (except squares, of course ) ? draw the line, sew down both sides, then cut in half and repeat?
