I did it, I did it, OH MY.....I CAN'T believe I did it!!!!
Been toying with the idea of a new machine so I went "browsing" today and came home with a Janome 6600P! Got it for $1299, praying it's a good price. I have lifetime training on the machine. Two year free service. AND 10% all future purchases at the sewing & vac shop where I purchased it. (Yes, they sell beautiful fabric!! Not bunches, but beautiful!!) Can hardly wait to get quilting on my new baby!:icon_bump: Have my first one on one training next Wednesday morning.....let's see what I can do before then. One happy quilter here!!! :icon_woohoo::icon_woohoo:

Re: I did it, I did it, OH MY.....I CAN'T believe I did it!!!!
@ Precious1......didn't know I needed to name "her". That may take some thought, since I have four sons and two grandsons! lol For now she will be my precious (overly protected) baby. :D

Thanks Cyndi! It's exciting, a little intimidating and making me a "bit" crazier than I already am......the thought of learning to use a new and oh sew beautiful machine! :icon_crazy:

Re: I did it, I did it, OH MY.....I CAN'T believe I did it!!!!
I have a 6500 and paid that much 3 years ago, so I think you got a good deal. You will love your Janome!

Re: I did it, I did it, OH MY.....I CAN'T believe I did it!!!!
I never did go back and take my one on one classes with my Janome. LOL. If I can't do it, I pull out the Book or the CD. I'm self taught on almost everything I do anyway. But, I'm guessing you will be happy with it. The thing I like most about mine is that it's more quiet than my old Singer was. I don't miss that thing at all.

Congatulations! May you have many happy years together.

Re: I did it, I did it, OH MY.....I CAN'T believe I did it!!!!
Congrat's on your new baby!
I'll have to say and don't poke me. That so many ask about what machine to buy, and we all have favorites, but only want to spent $200-$400. Those are great for so many things but if you want to move on further it's worth the investment to get a better machine.
Okay back into my corner, :)

Re: I did it, I did it, OH MY.....I CAN'T believe I did it!!!!
Had one, loved it! Traded up, or it would still be my favorite Janome of all times. You will love it, too! Happy quilting. Price? They have kept their value because I paid about the same 5 years ago.

It's the old "you get what you pay for" deal. I know it sounds harsh, but I think it really applies to sewing machines.
Congrats on your baby! BTW, having a hard time naming your machine? No rule says it has to be a she. Mine's a Brother, so it's name is Jimmy. (haha, the only name I could think of. I use to just have one brother named Jim, now I have 2.)

Congratulations!! It sounds like you got a great deal with all the perks. Have fun :)

Re: I did it, I did it, OH MY.....I CAN'T believe I did it!!!!
I totally agree. I have been at that place where I could only afford and/or only wanted to pay $200 or so for a new machine.....learned my lesson. Bought a Janome DC3050 about 5 yrs ago (I think) and paid $500 or $600 for that one and after that had to buy my walking foot, 1/4" foot and open toe darning foot! I have struggled with spending this amount on a new machine for the last month, but decided to take the plunge today. July 25th....Christmas in JULY!!! LOL Originally began looking at/considering the Baby Lock Melody, but after seeing so many here talk about their higher end Janome machines....that's what I went for. Besides, I was looking at the 6500, but they didn't have any in stock. So the owner said he "normally" sells the 6600 for $1499 and dropped the price to $1299 (I believe that was an enticement to buy!) The sticker on the 6600 said $2499--I think, it was definitely over $2200.....could NOT have afforded that!

Re: I did it, I did it, OH MY.....I CAN'T believe I did it!!!!
I could probably "manage" but I am a SHOW ME person, so the one on one sessions will be great for me. Also looking forward to getting out of the house and learning from someone!

Yay Terri!!!! I have a 6600 and loooooooove it! You got a good price, too. I bought mine a couple of years ago and paid $1500 and I didn't get 2 years of free service! I know you will love your new baby and will make many happy memories together. :)

Congratulations on your new machine. May you have many days of enjoyment.
You got a good price and don't look back.

Re: I did it, I did it, OH MY.....I CAN'T believe I did it!!!!
Congrats on your new machine. As for spending money I have to agree you sometimes get what you pay for. Hubby bought me my singer Embroidery machine 5 yrs ago for around $1500 and I truly love it. I love the machine, all it's stiches and software. I don't have a big hoop or continuous hoop ability. So I love my machine and will think hard about the next embroidery machine a few years down the line.

Congratulations! Have fun creating - can't wait to see what you make first.

So exciting; getting a new toy to play with!

Re: I did it, I did it, OH MY.....I CAN'T believe I did it!!!!
Congratulations! I can FEEL your excitement....and announcements, what a great idea. Of course the 'presents' should be fabric, or thread, or anything quilt related! Enjoy your lesson and tell us how it goes.
-
Re: I did it, I did it, OH MY.....I CAN'T believe I did it!!!!
I have that machine and love it. Go take the lessons, you will still need to refresh with the book later some.....but it will be worth the time to take in the lessons, too. I know I learned a lot with mine! Enjoy your new baby!

Re: I did it, I did it, OH MY.....I CAN'T believe I did it!!!!
Could NOT name mine Jim or Jimmy....that's the name of the guy I dated (quite seriously) before I met my DH. So that would not work! lol Have always wondered why machines, esp cars are a she!?! Men, I guess. :icon_happy:

Re: I did it, I did it, OH MY.....I CAN'T believe I did it!!!!
I didn't get a CD with mine, just a manual/book (and it's not in twenty different languages!) All English, I expected to at least find the Spanish & French translations in the book, if I had it would be at least 2 inches thick! A CD would be great, as I said I am a show me person....that's why I love Jenny's tutorials. :icon_tup:

What a great deal... I'm green with envy.. I know you will have lots of "together" time and make beautiful gifts together!!

Re: I did it, I did it, OH MY.....I CAN'T believe I did it!!!!
I don't know what all your machine will do but it certainly sounds like a great price. Just a note about those of us who have bought much less expensive machines especially to start out. I think it is good to have a basic machine to piece on and mend and hem clothes. I have gotten tons of use from my Kenmore...which is made by Janome. Have certainly gotten more than my money's worth from that little machine and it is light enough to take to classes.
Happy that you have gotten this new toy. Makes me search out the ads and think....Hmmmm...do I need one more machine?
-
Re: I did it, I did it, OH MY.....I CAN'T believe I did it!!!!
I think allot of started with either older machines or with basic machines and then moved up and that is all right....you have to learn on a machine that you don't have allot invested in .....and then the bug bites you really hard and that is when you start looking to upgrade your machine....that's what I did and I don't regret any of it...as I upgraded I learned more with each machine......currently only 3 machines and wouldn't give up any of them...love them all.
-
Re: I did it, I did it, OH MY.....I CAN'T believe I did it!!!!
Exactly why I upgraded....I was bitten by a "bug"!!! lol Only two machines here.
