I have a 6500 and paid that much 3 years ago, so I think you got a good deal. You will love your Janome!
I never did go back and take my one on one classes with my Janome. LOL. If I can't do it, I pull out the Book or the CD. I'm self taught on almost everything I do anyway. But, I'm guessing you will be happy with it. The thing I like most about mine is that it's more quiet than my old Singer was. I don't miss that thing at all.
Congatulations! May you have many happy years together.
Congrat's on your new baby!
I'll have to say and don't poke me. That so many ask about what machine to buy, and we all have favorites, but only want to spent $200-$400. Those are great for so many things but if you want to move on further it's worth the investment to get a better machine.
Okay back into my corner, :)
Had one, loved it! Traded up, or it would still be my favorite Janome of all times. You will love it, too! Happy quilting. Price? They have kept their value because I paid about the same 5 years ago.
It's the old "you get what you pay for" deal. I know it sounds harsh, but I think it really applies to sewing machines.
Congrats on your baby! BTW, having a hard time naming your machine? No rule says it has to be a she. Mine's a Brother, so it's name is Jimmy. (haha, the only name I could think of. I use to just have one brother named Jim, now I have 2.)
Congratulations!! It sounds like you got a great deal with all the perks. Have fun :)
I totally agree. I have been at that place where I could only afford and/or only wanted to pay $200 or so for a new machine.....learned my lesson. Bought a Janome DC3050 about 5 yrs ago (I think) and paid $500 or $600 for that one and after that had to buy my walking foot, 1/4" foot and open toe darning foot! I have struggled with spending this amount on a new machine for the last month, but decided to take the plunge today. July 25th....Christmas in JULY!!! LOL Originally began looking at/considering the Baby Lock Melody, but after seeing so many here talk about their higher end Janome machines....that's what I went for. Besides, I was looking at the 6500, but they didn't have any in stock. So the owner said he "normally" sells the 6600 for $1499 and dropped the price to $1299 (I believe that was an enticement to buy!) The sticker on the 6600 said $2499--I think, it was definitely over $2200.....could NOT have afforded that!
