A new tradition
We put our hearts and souls into beautiful quilts we give away for gifts. When we give them away, it is a little melancholy knowing we will probably never see them again...we just hope they have good long lives.
I mentioned that to a friend recently and she said, "I always sleep under quilts one night before I give them away. That way I get to really enjoy the finished product one night before I let it go."
Makes sense to me.

Re: A new tradition
I know that feeling. I like to take a picture of each quilt that I make. When I look at the pictures later, I can reminisce my feelings and I can see all the love in my heart that went into making the quilt. Maybe they'll never know, but I know!

That is an idea, I usually just take pictures.

I know how you feel, and just once I'd like to see a quilt I gave to some special child being held onto and snuggled in! Oh well I do try to take a few photo's and like Sharyn, maybe they will never know but WE do each one is so special in my mind and heart when I'm making it.

Photos are good enough for me. Being able to set up albums on the Forum has really been great to remind me to catalog what I make. It's such a feeling of accomplishment to go to my albums and see what I've completed. It also brings the person or persons to mind who have received my quilts.

What a great idea. Although I have to say, I do snuggle under my quilts while I'm handstitching the binding.

Methinks it is a token of healthy and gentle characteristics, when women of high thoughts and accomplishments love to sew; especially as they are never more at home with their own hearts than while so occupied. ~Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Marble Faun, 1859

I do the same thing! I snuggle and actually took a nap while putting the binding on the quilt I made hubby's aunt. Then it got washed and dried before giving.

I do the same, Tanya, but I often fall asleep in the middle of hand stitching. I just tell everyone that their quilt has been nap tested.
