Being lazy and just surfing and came across this. It's a Flicker photo, so no tut. I don't think heavy prints and florals would work. Any thoughts on this one?

It looks just like the one I'm working on except I put sashing around each block. I paper pieced it. The strips are sewn diagonally onto the paper and then cut each block diagonally and put one block pieces top &bottom and another block pieces side to side. Very easy
Not sure why it would have to be paper pieced. I think strip piecing would work, but by using foundation paper you'd be able to match your seams easier.
I have the supplies to make something like this, but since it's not a string quilt I'm afraid of picking out the fabrics to get this effect. I see the first strip isn't set right on the diagonal middle now. maybe those two get sewn together first.
Don't mind me, just thinking outloud. lol
I love scrap quilts! This one is really nice. What a great collection of fabric this quiltmaker has!
My guess is that they were 4 strips sewn together into a strip set and cut into triangles. Piece four of them together and you have your block.
At least that's what I'd do if you aren't going to paper piece.
That appears to me to be a variation of the 3-Dudes quilt: Jelly roll strips sewn together, lay four sewn strips over another four, cut and make HSTs of the strips . . . think this is just a different placement. Whatcha think? Forgot the name . . . something Wells . . .
Not sure how it was put together but I love the look of it.
Hidden Wells. I had a tiny disagreement when I first posted about it (when I first got here)Someone actually laughed and said that's a three dudes and it's not. Oh well. lol

There's a tutorial on moda bake shop for a similar quilt...
Moda Bake Shop: Cowboy Up Quilt
They put a block alternating
Would this also work using Natalie's tube tutorial Summer in the Park using more strips in the strip set and maybe not white (does that make sense)? I made the Summer in the Park as Natalie did it and it was super easy. It's one of those quilts that confuses the brain (well mine!!) and you can see it as different blocks.
It's similar to Bonnie Hunter's Strip Twist pattern.
Oooh very nice! I think grey and white would be lovely!
Thanks for the links!
And it would be lovely in greys and maybe some soft green. Thanks for the idea:)
