I need to stop already...
I'm gonna have to unsubscribe from the Daily Deal emails... because I always want to buy something when I get it. Of course, I can't just buy one jelly roll or one charm pack, so other stuff always ends up in the cart... Three orders this week... I need to stop this fabric buying addiction before it becomes much more serious! Anyone else feel that way? Please tell me I'm not alone!

Re: I need to stop already...
Addiction?? Nope. I don't know what you're talking about.
-
Re: I need to stop already...
I have 7 jelly rolls from Daily deals so I'm not letting myself buy anymore jellyrolls til I use these and I never buy charm packs unless they are Christmas since I'm making a Christmas coin quilt. So thankfully I'm limited to layer cakes and well those aren't on there that often...lol See the round about logic we all go through! Good luck with your plan, ummm and I don't even get emails I stalk the page when I wake up, it changes at 7am my time.

Re: I need to stop already...
I have at half a dozen jelly rolls, if not more. Several layer cakes and many charm packs.....a couple of kits and quite a bit of fabric I have purchased with certain projects in mind and on top of that many fabrics that I have bought "just because". Addiction ? ..... maybe. I like the word "Collection" better! :icon_rofl:

Re: I need to stop already...
No addiction, I just check daily deals in the middle of the night LOL.
-
Re: I need to stop already...
I check the daily deals and think the prices are sooo cheap but can't buy any :( I got into the bad habit of stopping off to shop on my way home at the end of the week and always bought some fabric. I have enough to make quite a few quilts but that doesn't stop me buying more!

Trust me. You.are.not.alone.;)

Re: I need to stop already...
It's called stash building and you can never have too much stash. :)
-
Re: I need to stop already...
I am so glad I am not alone in my addiction to building a stash...mine has been going on for quite a while...
-
Re: I need to stop already...
How about a small cupboard full of precuts....don't look at the DD unless I see a post about it and my taste is a bit different than most so I can usually pass it by....the last time they got me was with the tiny template free....bought way too much...so that's how I deal with it....if I don't look how can I buy? Make sense? LOL

Re: I need to stop already...
I know what you mean but like Terri said I prefer calling it a collection. Of course dear hubby has threatened to take away my debit and credit card. Lol.

Re: I need to stop already...
Every other month or so I find myself placing 2 or 3 orders in one week. I really try to keep it at only layer cakes, jelly rolls and templates. I try, I have found it very difficult to resist.
-
Re: I need to stop already...
I'm sorry. I have no sympathy left......used it all on myself! :D I suspect that my mailman thinks I'm running a secret business with all the packages he's been delivering.
-
Re: I need to stop already...
I have a stash of pre-cuts I have acquired and haven't done anything with most of them. Therefore, I have stopped buying them. Once the bin they are in is empty, or at least has room, then I can think about buying some more.
Good luck with the self-control thing!

Re: I need to stop already...
I was actually thinking that I wish the daily deals were more like "weekly". LOL - It seems like I want everything, every single day and I can't possibly afford that! Even at 70% off. I made myself not even look at the deal for a week because I've ordered from M* twice now and both orders have qualified for the free shipping! But I was so mad because I accidentally clicked on an unopened email and found the Dr. Seuss fat quarter bundle I had on my wish list was one of the deals that I missed!!
So I cried. Then I bought it full price along with whatever the deal was the day I ordered. LOL

Hahaha - thank you Karen. I would appreciate that. Believe it or not - I honestly don't understand the need for a huge stash of fabric. To me that says that you aren't making anything, you're just slowly building your own fabric store. ;)
I really do want to make something beautiful with all of the stuff that I bought. But I bought a couple of pretty fat quarters from the fabric store (only 4 - not too bad!) and they are so pretty that I find myself afraid to cut them for fear of messing them up!
I have a feeling I'm going to be fabric hoarder no matter how much I wish I weren't.

Re: I need to stop already...
Fabric has a way of growing as well. I made a string quilt last week from one of my scrap bags. Well, it didn't even make a dent in it! I swear the bag of scraps is still as stuffed full as it was and I used a lot of them.

Re: I need to stop already...
Karen---now if the precuts would multiply like the scraps do, we would all be set!!!

Being in Scotland you probably have the same problem I do in Australia: the international postage rates offered are really over the top. I looked at the TQM Binding Ruler featured on some of the videos and it cost $8.95. Shipping to Australia a whopping $39.00!! Same product on eBay from the US has shipping rates between $6 and $8.
I'm disappointed so many loyal fans are locked out because of this.

Re: I need to stop already...
You are not alone! I log in every night just to see the daily deal. I only buy layer cakes and jelly rolls. I don't think it's worth it to buy a charm pack since you're gonna give up the savings by paying for the shipping.
-
Re: I need to stop already...
I struggle with that every day. I rarely look at the DD these days. I like to read the fun short story underneath but I refrain more often than not because I just can't trust myself.
-
Re: I need to stop already...
Being that I live in Canada, the shipping is outrageous so that is a deterrent for me. I very rarely even look at the DD unless someone mentions it on here.

Re: I need to stop already...
There is no NEED for a huge stash...i've made it so that i'll never live long enough...and I can't part yet.... I've acquired a mountain from not being able to resist such a "good deal"...THEN,, when that mountain gets so high and NOTHING is being made from those "good deals"... one realizes it is A PROBLEM!!!!!... I have discovered that I love "shopping from home",, saves gas.. don't have to get "dolled up"... cooler ,,tons of reasons... but then there is this whole "forum" thing,, where I spend too much time typing and reading and re checking for new posts, and answers to my posts,, and pictures to share and look at and then see response... STOP... get the picture! I have never been a person that understands "moderation" with ANYTHING... soooooooooooooooo.... I have been working on emptying my scrap drawers... after folding, sorting and semi organizing... i'm down to the last drawer...if it doesn't go into the "scrap dryer sheet quilt"... it gets pieced into fabric and made into a zipper pouch or tote... if not,, it gets thrown out...when that last drawer is empty,, then it's on to the 3 drawer collection of charms, jellyrolls, and layers... acquired over the last 4 yrs. of M*... then on to the shelves of boarded fabric and tote drawers of pieces collected... NO MORE saving... only making.. i'm doing ok...only buying something if it is a duplicate of something I've already got,,,giving me more yardage to work with...I should start my own "Intervention Show for Quilters"!!!:icon_razz:
