My very first order from M*QC has arrived !
This morning, after sitting in customs for a week, my very first order from M*SQ has arrived.
I am so thrilled, the fabrics are lovely. I bought fabrics from the “Esprit de Noel” collection from Moda. I am planning to make a Jacob’s ladder lap quilt.
The only unfortunate thing was that I had to pay an extra $55 taxes/customs handling fee when it was delivered (this on top of $40 shipping costs). International shipping is so expensive.
But I won’t let this spoil the fun, I can’t wait to get started.
This is what I ordered :

P.S. With the order, there was this little yellow plastic thing with Missouri Star on it, does anyone know what this is ? Tx.

Good Morning Ladies from Glasgow. I ordered binding tools, Large and small, scalloped edge tool and the deal of the day. The postage is just too much, so my parcel has gone to my Daughter's sister-in-law in Boston, who will take it to Portugal on holiday in August, give it to my daughter who will bring it home with her. Just as we'll I am not desperate . Christine.

Pretty! The little plastic thing is a key chain :)

Good morning ladies :)
Greet, for the next time you might want to split your one bigger order in two separate smaller valued orders. Perhaps you can save some shipping cost and you will save the taxes for sure. Here in Germany we have to pay taxes for parcels when their value is above 40 or 50$. I´m not quite sure about the exact amount. Another option might be using an mailforwarder like shipito. Might be an alternative for you as well, Christine.
Evilynn (Steffie) recommended this to me and I tried it and am very satisfied with how it worked. My order was pretty quickly delivered and mailforwarding saved me 10$ :)

Goodmorning Andrea.
Thank you for the information. In Belgium you do not pay taxes when the amount is less than 20€. You don’t buy a lot of fabric for that money. When your order is less than 150 €, you pay taxes and handling fees as I did this morning. If your order is above 150€ you have to pay duties on top of the taxes and the handling fees. That’s why I was very careful when I placed my order, not to buy for more than 150€. I will look into a mail forwarder, although I have no idea how this works.
But when I split the order into smaller parcels , I will have to pay the expensive shipping costs for each parcel, and I don’t think that will save me a lot of money in the end.
It is such a pity that shipping is so expensive for us, otherwise I would be ordering all the time. :icon_bigsmile:

I love getting orders from M*QC and haven't had to pay extra taxes thankfully but it usually takes 28 days to get here and the postage is $55 - still cheaper than buying here though!
Re: My very first order from M*QC has arrived !
I would love to know of a shop In the UK that holds similar stock which we could order directly from.
I am so envious of you all who use M*QC - you are just spoilt for choice!
Re: My very first order from M*QC has arrived !
That fabric is so beautiful! It will make a wonderful quilt :)
I'm so sorry you have to pay so much for shipping - that really sucks - less money for fabric.
Re: My very first order from M*QC has arrived !
Welcome to the forum, Greet! What lovely fabrics you've chosen! I agree - international postage is very expensive. I have a daughter in South Korea, and it's hard to get gifts to her!
That said, I love that our quilty sister/brotherhood includes so many folks from so many countries!
Blessings, ~ Sally \0/
Re: My very first order from M*QC has arrived !
Hi Eileen, I have a shop near me here in Glasgow. Arts and Crafts Supplies, Books and Fabrics available worldwide from Kaleidoscope. Wide range of fabrics and quilting products. Free UK wide delivery over £10 they do free delivery over £10. I was spoiled for choice for a baby quilt in pink. Not so much choice in charm packs ect. But a huge selection on the bale. Worth a look. Hope this helps. Christine in Glasgow.

Happy for you and I hate that you have to pay that extra money. Thats terrible. Buying on here can be very addicting. :)

Hi Patrice, Quilting in the UK is a very expensive hobby.
