I think I am needing a part time job to fund my addiction to quilting. Just started this summer and can't get enough!

watch for garage sales with fabric advertised, go to second hand stores, (I find lots of fabric at my salvation army) and don't forget clothing has lots of fabric in it. Sometimes I pick up XXL shirts and jumpers really cheap at second hand stores and take it apart. Patterns are easy, internet is loaded with free patterns.

You are in very good complany. LOL One of the things I do is watch the coupons for Hancock fabric. I also have gotten to where I purchase extra when I am buying fabric for a quilt but I don't just buy fabric without a goal in mind.

I sew agree. I just started in May and if you see my stash. My dear hubby threatened to take away my debit and credit card. Of course I reasoned with him, that unlike many women, I don't like to clothe shop, nor buy makeup or jewelry, so I'm making it up in fabric. He just laughed and shook his head. Told me to keep a handle on it. I said sure. Of course, he doesn't need to know about the 5 packages I've got coming in the mail.

Precious1--I sooo agree with you! My DH knew I went to a posted estate sale & purchased a large amount of fabric and I reasoned it with him that I would save tons of $ because I wouldnt have to pay the high prices at the store. But then 2-3x a week I'd go to Joann's and he started asking why I needed more when I have numerous totes now full----I would reply 'it's a good deal' or 'I need a certain color'. Luckily, since I'm not working and he works through the day I am the one to get the mail & so unless an item comes on Saturday he doesn't know I bought more and I just add it to the totes I have and he's none the wiser!!!! I'm like you too though and I told my DH that I don't spend $ on clothes/shoes/jewelry/makeup, etc like most women and I make sure to point that out when I hear relatives/friends of his complaining about their wives buying 30 pairs of shoes and I point out that he's lucky I just like fabric. He's really good about it though and we joke around but I have him almost convinced to make me a craft room (keeping my fingers crossed)----I told him if I had a room then he wouldnt have to look at the stuff in our bedroom and living room as I'm working on projects.

***My latest tactic has been to remind him that we need to keep a positive attitude, so when he complains about the 'stuff' in his way---I tell him that people who think positive live longer so he should just be happy that I'm making quilts/totes, etc for friends/family and that eventually it will end up in someone else's home. lol
