Not taking any chances
After seeing people comment on cutting themselves with their rotary cutter,I just bought a "Klutz Glove" ! I've given myself some slices, nothing serious, usually because I left the cutter open and slid up against it. But I've been alittle paranoid when I'm cutting since reading the comments..afraid the blade would jump over my ruler or something...so I took my 40% off coupon to Joanns and bought a glove!!!

Very good investment! Coupon or no coupon, how much are your fingers worth? Every quilter should have one.

Re: Not taking any chances
I have never cut myself w/the rotary cutter after the first and I hope :knocking on wood: only time! I remember it well...Christmas Eve, finishing presents, cut my thumb right to the bone! And who has time to go get stitches then??? I'm amazed I don't have a scar....

Re: Not taking any chances
I have to say I have never cut myself either. A glove would be awkward for me to wear and I would never remember it anyway. Putting a glove on and off every time I need to cut would be a PIA . I usually cut some then sew , then cut some and sew. Been lucky so far and the only time I did knick myself was when I forgot to close the cutter. (knock on wood) for future safety

A Klutz glove, what an appropriate name for me!! I always say "there is a REASON that my mother did not name me Grace!" I have been fortunate (lucky) so far and not even a nick. But am uber paranoid about getting cut. I too, think that the on/off of a glove would be a pain, but like someone above said.....what are my fingers worth??? Guess that goes on my "better get it SOON list".

Re: Not taking any chances
I'm laying the cutter ON the glove to remember to use it. It is a little awkward because I also am multi-tasking but that's when I'm the most dangerous !!!

Good for you. I have a healthy respect of the cutter and pay close attention to the position of my little piggies. So far so good.

Re: Not taking any chances
I bought a Klutz Glove. Had never cut myself before but I thought it was better to be safe than sorry. Started to use it. One day I took it off for one minute because I needed to pick up something and forgot to put it back on. I sliced my finger (small cut). I looked at my finger in shock. I really try to remember to use my glove from now on. I still forget but I am certainly trying to remember.
