    Default Faux chenille

Cleaning up the ole sewing room today and found something I forgot about. It's a tool to make faux chenille by clover.

    28mm Slash Rotary Cutter- - Newegg.com

I was wondering if anyone had or used it? I'm putting together some stuff to put in my Etsy shop under De-Stash so I can fund my dang fabric addiction lately.

I bought one to make a fabulous scarf I saw a woman making....obviously she was quite experienced in the use of this tool. Needless to say, I ended up w/one reallllly skinny scarf, another about three inches wide, and the rest ended up in the garbage because I got so mad I couldn't take it anymore. I think the cutter ended up the same place!

I have seen rugs and other things made using it, and they are beautiful! I guess I just don't have the patience for it.

Sounds like that was going to happen to this one. lol I was in this craft mood for awhile and bought all kinds of silly things. But the kids are out of the house and won't use stuff so it's time to clear it out.

So that's the first for the De-Stash!

I bought one of those years ago. Can't remember if I used it or not. Well, I know that I opened the package! LOL
I was making Little Ducky flannel quilts and the duck was cut into a chenille piece. I used my spring scissors to cut through the layers on these two quilts. So, now I wonder, why did I buy it?

Yeah, i picked one up a a thrift shop several years ago. bought it because our local Joanns had a baby quilt made out of faux chennile that i thought was cute. when I sat down and thought about it, I realized i did NOT want to spend all that time sewing channels to cut open. It sits in the back of a drawer now, glad i didn't pay full price

Oh gosh, I just had a "senior moment". Now I remember. After I made the 2 ducky quilts, I saw a pattern at the LQS. The whole blanket was chenille and I thought the tool would be useful. After I thought about it, I decided it was too much work and put the tool in a drawer, (never to be seen again.)

I have made four or five faux chenille baby blankets - about 32" square using the tool. They come out really nice, but they are labor intensive. I would not attempt to make one without this tool, for sure.
