Embroidery thread
I have a question for all those that do embroidery work. What brand thread would you recommend using? I've read reviews on several different kinds and some users will say a certain brand is the next best thing to sliced bread and other reviewers of the same thread comment it is the worst.
Thanks.

Re: Embroidery thread
It all depends on your machine. They do seem to like different ones. I like Madiera but my machine doesn't seem too picky, it doesn't care for Coat's and Clark's at all. I would recommend getting one or two spools at a time until you decide what your machine likes.

Re: Embroidery thread
I buy robison-anton because that's what I can get locally. I can't compare it to anything though.

Re: Embroidery thread
I buy thread online from a company called designsbysick.com
There is a great variety in their box sets and have never had any problems with their thread.

Re: Embroidery thread
I also buy robison anton, since that is what my local shop carries. I have been in a pinch out of town and bought some coats and clark and my machine did not like it at all.

Re: Embroidery thread
Claire is so right, the best thread is the kind that your machine likes.
My machines aren't too picky about thread, they are more picky about needles. I LOVE Isacord for embroidery and FMQ. I have also used Metro thread for embroidery and it is great too and very inexpensive.
I just used cotton Aurifil to embroider and it worked great too!

Re: Embroidery thread
My machine loves Floriani and hates Coats and Clark. I think the suggestion to by one or two spools and see what she likes is a good way to go.

Re: Embroidery thread
For my Brother embroidery machine I use Brother polyester or the Floriani

Thank you so much ladies. At least now I have somewhere to start.

Re: Embroidery thread
I use Robinson Anton Polyester and order it from All threads.com. They just had a sale last week and I ordered 40 spools!

Re: Embroidery thread
I have used various threads including the ultra cheapo's from e bay and ordinary weight sewing cotton for free standing lace.
Marathon is one I really like, great colour range and sews beautifully.
I did have a sewing machine which absolutely hated mettalic thread...........just refused to sew with it. My 12000 does not seem to mind what you use, so far that is.
