I should stop looking at pinterest!
Check this out its awesome! Attachment 50316
would love to make this but the pttern is 10 bucks ...not so bad but you need a 9 or 10 degree wedge ruler ...cost of that 20 bucks...so for 30 bucks plus fabric...nope won't do it but it sure is gorgeous.
Re: I should stop looking at pinterest!
Wow! That is different. And yes, making it does seem pricey.
It might be a good thing for me that I have never checked out Pinterest. I have gotten the impression from several people that it can be very addicting. I can feel it pulling me in that direction...
Re: I should stop looking at pinterest!
I bought the pattern and wedge ruler a couple of years ago and it still sits unopened in the cabinet! I will get to it someday! FYI, it is called Spicy Spiral and it is from Phillips Fiber Art: Home Page Check out their site, they have some fabulous stuff!
Re: I should stop looking at pinterest!
Oh my goodness! Don't click on the link. They have gorgeous unique patterns and tutorials. I come from a an art background and their items are visually stunning. Another place to spend my quilting allowance. (sigh) Seriously, thank you for sharing Iris, I loved the site.:D
Re: I should stop looking at pinterest!
Someone on here has made those before . . . my old foggy memory says it was Kathy T from Utah . . . stop me if I'm wrong.
Gorgeous, no matter what.
Re: I should stop looking at pinterest!
I've been looking at that about a year now! It's beautiful in person!! One of the shops here teaches a class on it and two of my friends have taken it, but I don't have the pattern. I believe they told me the hardest part was choosing the eight fabrics in it, which I really had to look to see them all. I just love it!
Re: I should stop looking at pinterest!
I think I saw a video on this. Just remember, the ruler will come in handy in the future.
Re: I should stop looking at pinterest!
i've seen this made up at a few shops. It is very impressive.
Re: I should stop looking at pinterest!
you guys are so much help...makes me want to just click yes and buy. it is so stunning , seen it done several ways but hot and spicy and the cool blues and greens are so awesome... ok its in my cart do I click yes and get it?...
Re: I should stop looking at pinterest!
Nope, don't do it. I think the work is beautiful but you need the special rulers and then all the fabric. Unless you're thinking of getting into these kinds of art quilts, save the money and use it for something that you'll really use. I can't tell you how many special rulers that I have here that have never seen the light next to a piece of fabric!
Re: I should stop looking at pinterest!
You can find a tutorial here from HeirloomCreations:
Spicy Spiral Table Runner with 9 Degree Wedge Ruler - YouTube
and you could probably draw a nine degree paper template and just put a normal ruler over the lines of the paper template to cut the fabric :)
Re: I should stop looking at pinterest!
The only thing I can suggest is just keep looking through pinterest at other beautiful quilts.........until the next "shiny object" catches your attention! That will help you forget the first "shiny object". :D
Re: I should stop looking at pinterest!

It's a wedge shaped ruler in 9 degrees angles....
9 Degree Circle Wedge Ruler - 25" - Doheny Publications
The 10 degree ruler is 22.5 inches long, 1 inch wide at narrow end and 4 7/8 wide at bottom edge. these measurments include the 1/4 inch seam.

SO happy you did let us see the finished product!
And Don't stop using Pintrest. I myself love it! I find great ideas for quilting, cooking and gardening. It's like the new you tube. So much fun. And the new web pages you find is all worth it!
