    Default Sad Day Today

Today my local quilt shop closes its door forever. The owner is retiring. I'll be dropping by for some cake and to reminisce this afternoon. Probably pick up some fabric for the last time. I think that there may be a new quilt shop opening up in town. Still, it won't be the same.

I'm sorry to hear this. I know it's losing some old friends, but I hope if/when the new shop opens, you will make many new and wonderful friends over there!

That happened with my local quilt store and a Bernina store opened in its same location. It isn't the same. They say they are a quilt shop but most of their classes etc. are promotions for their machines. I enjoyed digging through their sales room in the back and their basket of scrap packs as I do a lot of scrap quilts...lots of UFOs too...HA. My favorite sales lady works there still but the whole atmosphere has changed. Their classes are now more expensive and that is the ONLY quilt store within driving distance from my home. BooHoo....I feel your pain!

Sorry to hear about your quilt shop closing. I admit I do shop online because the prices are much better in a lot of cases but I make an effort to support the local quilt shops around my area knowing that I value the fact I have them. Let's hope your new shop is a place you will enjoy going to.

They may have had to increase prices to be able to stay in business. Let them know what you are interested in and if enough people do that they may change their focus or at least try to do what is desired some of the time.

I'm sorry to hear you're losing your favorite quilt shop. They can be such an inspiration, just to walk in and see the class samples and all the lovely fabrics. There's no place quite like a small, independently owned quilt shop. Hope the new one is nice, too.

I am so sorry you are losing your LQS. I would be sad if mine closed. I do hope you will enjoy the new one opening up.
