OMG!! What have I done???
I've been debating about getting a new machine for a while. My current machine is just a basic Brother CS6000i which I bought in January thinking it was all I needed. Ha! I hear you all giggling already. That was BQ (before quilting) Anyway, I was tired of struggling to move fabric through the harp on it - for starters. My husband has been trying to get me to upgrade for a couple of months. I've been reading all the posts about machines and researching as much as possible. I had signed up with the Sewing & Vacuum Warehouse about a month ago to receive emails and two days ago I received an email that they were having a sale on several different machines including Janomes.
Long story short (I know, I have a hard time making long stories short) I just came home with a brand new Janome Memory Craft 7700 QCP. I am way beyond excited. I looked at the 8900 and was sorely tempted but I couldn't justify paying the price difference (it was not on sale). The 8900 was $4,000.00 and the sale on the 7700 was $1,799.00. They do all the servicing and repairs on site. There are great reviews online about this dealer so I felt very, very comfortable. And, they are only 3 miles from me!
So, now I need to sit down with my new machine and start the learning curve. Oh, yeah, and give her a name...
Thanks for listening to my babbling. Woo-hoo, I am sooo excited. Oh, yeah, I already said that... :icon_wave:

WhooooooHooooo I would be SO excited!!! Hope you kept your other machine as well?? I've 6 (so far) but 1 is only for parts for a very old Elna (those funky Green ones)... so 5 that work. I ALWAYS keep my eye out for Sales and soooo Glad you caught a great one on Sale!!!! Life is so GOOD! oh yeah I can't keep things short either, so what hehehe
Only tip I have is when you piece - start and finish on same machine (nope you know already how I know this one LMBO)... Can't wait for a photo of your new baby and what you name *it*!
Yippie and Great Job nabbing it

Re: OMG!! What have I done???
That is the machine I have and I love it! If they offer classes I would advise taking them......sooner rather than later. I was about ready to throw mine out the window when I finally took the class and have loved it ever since.

Re: OMG!! What have I done???
Good for you. I know you will be very pleased with your new machine. In Febuary I bought the 8900QCP at my LQS.
I have a lot to learn yet on mine . I had and still have my Brother Pacesetter that runs just great and a shame to say I haven't turn it on since I got the new one.
Oh I never did name the new one nor the old one. Never thought of a good name .
Anyway I am so glad you got what you wanted. Have fun with it.

Re: OMG!! What have I done???
I am green with envy!!!!!! LOL I am so excited for you! I want a Janome so bad. If only I was rich instead of good looking. LOL Unfortunately I'm neither!! My dream machine would be the 12000. Ahh... dreams. Don't you love them? But they are even better when they become real. Congratulations! :icon_woohoo::icon_woohoo::icon_hug:, Jan L.

Sandy - yes, they offer classes and the young man (every one is younger then me anymore) told me to stop by anytime. He would always have time to answer questions or show me. I really love that the dealer is so close to my house!

Oh, Ann - that 8900 was ever so tempting but I was trying to "behave" and I couldn't beat the price.

Re: OMG!! What have I done???
Wow! Congrats on the new machine! That seems like a great deal. I've been eyeing the 7700, but have only seen them priced around $2700. I would have snatched it up at that price, too. Enjoy! I am green with envy!

Lori - Yes, the original price was $2,700.00 and even though I was drooling over the 8900 I just could not pass up the price of the 7700.
Thanks for your kind thoughts!

This is true. I made two quilts with that Brother machine and finished another quilt top on it just this past Thursday. The quilt top I just finished had a lot of applique, some of it very small, and it was such a struggle for me to turn that fabric through the harp 49 times to complete all the appliques. That's when I hoisted the white flag and told my husband he was right, I was going to seriously look at larger machines.
My comment about the Brother was not meant to offend any users of this model Brother machine. It is still a great machine and I would not think of letting it go. My comment about everyone giggling was more about my naiveté in thinking I would never need to consider another machine.
I apologize to you and any others who thought I was speaking in a demeaning manner.

Re: OMG!! What have I done???
Congratulations on your new machine. I got one - same model as yours - a couple of weeks ago and I'm totally thrilled with it. I call mine "Big Red" LOL. I love all the features and all the feet that comes with it. I have not regretted buying it. I also got a great deal. The machine is so easy to use.
Have fun.

Re: OMG!! What have I done???
Congrats...I up graded last year as well...to a Brother esp. for quilting. Wow makes all the difference.
Just the self threader made the price worth well...no more searching for the little hole...ok searching for my glasses first...then the little hole.
ENJOY!

Re: OMG!! What have I done???
Congrats to you!! :-) I am eyeballing the Baby Lock Melody that Mary Fons uses in her tutorials, and read somewhere (here maybe??) that Jenny also uses one. My LQS said the price is $1,799.99, but I can get it for $1,259.99 (30% off).....gotta make up my mind....that price won't last forever. Just recently got a credit card that is 0% interest for the first 18 months, so I could purchase it and pay it off over several months, and not pay any interest. I am a beginner when it comes to quilting, but started sewing in the 8th grade in Home Ec. Honestly haven't sewn a garment in YEARS....having 4 boys in 5 years really cut down on the sewing time and energy! lol So what to y'all think? Should I go for it??
