Default Need ideas of what/how to do.

Ok, It looks like I will be sitting with my oldest son for another week or longer. I have two quilts that I want to get started but really no idea how to do that from a hospital room. Three years ago when Richard was in the hospital I knitted until I am sure the eyes in the back of my head went blind. Honestly, I knitted myself out.

Any ideas of how I could at least get these quilts cut out? There isn't a table or anything available in his room. He is on the only floor in the hospital that hasn't been remodeled and the room is pretty sparsely furnished. I could do it on my lap with one of my small cutting boards but not real sure I could get an accurate enough cut? What do you think?

Today I spent my time putting pages in page protectors. I had a HUGH number of patterns that I have printed out and have been wanting to do that for a long time. I will still be able to keep busy doing that tomorrow. But then comes Friday, Saturday, Sunday, etc. you get the idea. I about go nuts just sitting and I read and have been dragging my monster of a lap top so I work on it a bit too. I would so like to get these quilts cut out through while I am just sitting 75% of the time.

    Open to ideas, PLEASE?
    Be blessed,
    Sandy

Could you ask the nurses if there is an extra bed table around,( the one that goes over the bed) There must be one or two around somewhere. I can see why they would say no, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I think Lorie's suggestion is a good one. Most of them are adjustable with locking wheels, so you could even stand to do your cutting, if you are sick of sitting. Have you already decided on the pattern and the fabric placement? If not, you can take some good old fashioned graph paper and play around with patterns or color placement.

Great ideas. I will ask about the table tomorrow as I know what I will be doing then. If they don't have one I do have a TV tray that I can take. I think it might even slip in the closet there for when I am not there.

Oh, now I want to do the happy dance. Maybe in the morning when I have had a nights sleep. LOL
    Thanks again.

However you manage it, Sandy, know we have you and Richard in our prayers!!
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

I would try the table first, but if that is not available,,, Get a gardening knee pad and bring your cutting mat and rotary cutter and rulers with you and just use the floor. If there is a will there is a way... Good Luck hon.

Oh, Sheri, this really made me chuckle. The hospital would have to get a crane in to get me up. Honestly. Besides nothing happens on the hospital floor. If anything touches the floor it doesn't tough the patient. I am afraid if a persnickety came in and found me on the floor I wouldn't be allowed to go near Richard until I went home and changed. Thanks for the thought though. You are great!
