Update on My Dad...
He is in AFIB and will have another shock done. If that works, will go on more meds to help keep him from being high risk of another heart attack or a stroke.
Thank you for your warm thoughts and prayers. I am glad everyone loved his quilts I posted earlier. He told me I better get busy and make a quilt so we can be in the show together in the fall, but for me not to expect to beat him. LOL he's so funny...even when he isn't feeling well. At least he is positive! I hate it when my parents talk about dying!

I just went back and found your original post. Such pretty quilts!
I am sorry he is having problems. It is so difficult when you are so far away, also. I will be praying for both of you.

Re: Update on My Dad...
My heart hurts for you. I know how hard it is to lose a parent. We live in VA, our family is in MInn. My mother was in a locked down unit with Alzheimer and my Daddy had an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm. Got the call at work that Daddy had passed sitting in his chair watching Mom sleep. 5 weeks later Mom passed from grief. At least we got to sit with Mom until she left. I had never ever even thought of my parents passing. They kept our 2 boys all summer and they were go go go when they were growing up. I know that it's stupid but it just didn't occur to me.
Know that you have people here who will keep you in our prayers and thoughts to keep you strong..We won't let you down.

Re: Update on My Dad...
Misa, I missed your original post, too. So sorry to hear about your Dad, but if his sense of humor is still there then he's a fighter and fighters are hard to conquer! Gotta love a man like that. Praying for a very short hospital stay!!

Re: Update on My Dad...
Sounds like he is in good spirits, which help a lot!! My dad, every year on his birthday, would say, this is the last one I'll be around. Finally, much to my dismay, he was right. :icon_sniff:

Re: Update on My Dad...
Misa ~ sorry to hear about your dad; I understand your concern for him and his well-being.
Just wanted to let you know there are other methods to resolving AFib that work. My husband had a quad bypass and then developed AFib a few days later and shocked him out of it. 6 months later he went into it again and had another shock and this time was also given meds including the blood thinner Coumadin. 2 months later it was back and they did an ablation ... basically killed an ultra small area of the inside of his heart that was sending out the screwed up signal for his heart to beat. He felt so much better after that and was happy to throw away the pills and stop the blood thinner!
He hasn't had another episode in 3 years. Hope the shock works for him ... it looks like he has so many more quilts to make!

Re: Update on My Dad...
Misa, take heart dear, it IS so hard to hear our parents talk of dying. You are a great strength to your dad, I'm sure of it. Enjoy every moment you have with him.
IBake ~ Sweetheart, what a difficult time you had. My heart hurts for YOU too! Bless you for sharing your difficult story.
My faith and prayers are said for both of you.

MIsa! I have you and your dad in my thoughts. It sounds as if your dad is quite the fighter, never giving up which is great! I went back and looked at the quilts, and they are awesome! I love them. You must be very proud to share a hobby with your father.
Hugs,
Steffie

Re: Update on My Dad...
Misa, you and your dad are in my thoughts and prayers. I guess I was lucky in knowing that my parents would soon be passing, and was able to be there with both of them. I do not envy you for going through this. But he seems pretty up beat, so follow his lead. He has many quilts left in him. It is never easy when faced with your own mortality.
