Misa, you and your dad are in my thoughts and prayers. I guess I was lucky in knowing that my parents would soon be passing, and was able to be there with both of them. I do not envy you for going through this. But he seems pretty up beat, so follow his lead. He has many quilts left in him. It is never easy when faced with your own mortality.
