Tata / Breast Update - Breast Specialist Consultation

Dear Forum Family/Friends,

Well my major prayer was answered...the largest growth is NOT in my lymph node! This is very, very good news, it's in the breast tissue!! The radiologist was convinced that it was located within the lymph node and that would make the diagnosis/treatment worse.

Now, I like Dr. Shroff, good bedside manner, thorough - God knows my family history on both sides has various cancers a mile long, direct - which I like, personable.

She reviewed all 28 mammogram shots, along with the hospital ultrasounds, proceeded to do her own ultrasounds:

- Determined main growth is 6 mm - recommended - stereotactic core biopsy on mammographic table

- 2nd growth is 4 mm - wait 6 month and mammogram/ultrasound to compare

Bad news/Good news: During her ultrasound, she found 3rd undetermined mass to watch. Bad because who wants to be told "Hey, there's another one!" Good, because she's bright enough to detect it! :)

Good news: Cobb County "Breast Test" Diagnostic is paying for all this and the Outpatient Procedure is scheduled for July 18th at 1:30 pm! Not too long of a wait!! :)

Plus I feel in good hands with Dr. Shroff - she gave me all the options, her recommendations. She stated she could be wrong on the second growth by waiting but she thought a biopsy on that would be over-aggressive and she could be wrong. I told her that there were no guarantees in life and she wasn't God, however I felt confident that we were making the right decisions together. :D

Called Don when I got in the car, we were both excited that it wasn't in the lymphatic system! We felt that overall there was more good than bad and we can move on the next phase. He's coming home tomorrow night, we're all happy about that! I'm going to sleep well tonight.

Spoke with my Dad and Stepmother in Amsterdam when I got home, they are going to have a glass of wine to celebrate the good news for me. I can't drink since I'm allergic to alcohol and this "no lymph node" news needs to be celebrated!

So I'm going to be that '55 Thunderbird cranked up on the auto lift on the 18th! You know that its all men who think of these contraptions for breast cures!!

Thank you all for the PMs, prayers, moyos, karmas, healing light, good thoughts, etc. - They have really lifted my spirits these last 5 weeks!

Happy Dance for you!!!!! Great news!!!! Once I finish some more of my term paper, I'll have a glass of wine for you too!

Edit: I just realized that this post gives me the honor of being a senior member and 9 patch princess. I'll have a glass of wine for that as well!

Sounds like you got a good doctor and that is always a blessing. Congrats on the non-lymph news. I thought I felt a gust of wind from the east, must have been that huge sigh of relief.

Thanks for sharing your good news! I'm so glad to hear that you have a good doctor that you like and respect. That can make all of this easier to get through. I don't drink alcohol either but I'll toast you with a glass of pepsi. How about that?

Also thank you for love and prayers/good wishes. Don and I thank you for your support as well as Kat. She's been a real trooper in this as well. :) Trying to not show her fears but we talk about our feelings and she knows that I'm optimistic in the biopsy and treatment paths.
