Anyone have one of these CD's? A friend gave it to me; she bought it on E-bay and it has no instructions. It has thousands of designs but you can't see them just opening up the CD in the computer.

Download Stitch Era Universal (free) You need an Embroidery software program to see the designs PES/PEC for Brothers. SEU will let you see the designs, import them to make adjustments, add text to them, saved them to your computer or usb to download to your machine. The PDF manual is pretty good.

Good luck, Ruby
Ok, sounds good, where is the download?
Found a place to get the download but when I first get started I get a message from my security that it might be an unsafe download. That kind of scares me. I've gotten Sierra products before and they were okay. Don't know now....
Thanks Ruby, I used the link but I couldn't see where the download was. I've found it now a couple other places. It sounds like it highly recommended...just made me nervous about proceeding with the download.
Ruby! Help! This is over my head!!! When I finished the download I have Embroidery Explorer icon and Emboidery Design icon (which is Stitch Era Universal). Everytime I click on either one I got a pop-up. where I have to agree to the license. It takes forever for the design to come up....I saved one, but now I can't find it. What I hoped to do was save the designs that I want to a folder and then when I want to load them to my machine I can just pull them out. I just can't figure out where the folder is??
Casi, you just need the SEU Design icon. You need to agree each time you open it as it connects to the server on the internet.
If you already saved designs in a folder on your computer, do a search on your computer with the embroidery file extension *.pes or *.pec depending on what type of files you have. That way you can see where the files are stored at, just click on the string to read the full path.

Ruby, today I can't get the design to export! What am I doing wrong?
If you're planning on doing very much machine embroidery you might want to invest in a software program such as Embird that allows you to combine, resize, and split designs as well as add lettering and save designs. It's very user friendly. In fact, I use it more than I do the expensive 4D Software program for my Viking machines. You can download it and use it for one month free. Here's a link:

Have SEU open
Open the file you want to export to your USB
Click the Disk icon, Export as Embroidery Machine Format, Click on the Drive Letter where your USB is, use the same file name or give it a new name, select the machine/file type extension, click save.
You're set to go. :)
Ruby, I'm getting it figured out. Last night I purchased a bunch of designs from Tucker's Treasures which came with an index so I can locate the designs that I want but I can't tell which format it is in....I can see the size. The design has about 7 different files that you can select, probably the different formats. I've e-mailed the creator and asked her if she listed them in a certain order. Are the different format by size? I can only have PES and DST. Thanks for your help.
They're listed by size and alpha order.
You HAVE to have an embroidery software to recognize embroidery files, Windows Explorer won't show you all that information. The lady can send you only PES and DST files in the different sizes and you still wont be able to see recognized them in Windows 7/Vista/XP!
When you have SEU open, you can see all your files, the full name, file type. That's why you need to have it open. So open up SEU even if you don't want to edit the embroidery file itself, you need it to be able to read the design file names that you have bought to transfer them to your USB or embroidery card. Once you are able to see all the different files, then pick the design you want... butterfly_4x4.pes and copy to your USB drive, paste. You're can then take it to your machine.
Don't fight the logic, just follow what the software engineers want you to do. :) They are the Gods of the world in technology...
Ruby! I finally got it! It took awhile to sink into my thick hard head....what you said...."open SEU" first!!!! When I did that I was able to see what I needed to see on the CD that I have and I can see what I need to see on the Tucker's treasures designs too! Thanks so much!!!
