Question Children's throw pillows

I am in the process of making throw pillows for my grand babies (5 yo, 3 yo, 2 yo).
My questions is about finishing them -->>

Should I just cover the pillow form and finish it off by sewing the edges together . . . or should I make the back open (so the pillow form can be removed for washing)??

Do you have any ideas which is better for the smaller kiddos???

I'm not sure I want the opening in the back because I don't want them pulling out the pillow form all the time . . .

Any advice would be appreciated -- Thank you!

Hugs,
Deborah

I have washed pillows that were sewn into their cases and all was well. I would prefer to have separate cases, especially for children where they might be often washed.....but my opinion. Ask the mom what she might prefer.

Do a deep envelope back. That should discourage them from popping the inserts out!

I've done my pillows with an envelope back this way if they get something on them the covers can come off and be washed.

I put a centered zipper in the bottom of my throw pillows. Then I can take the pillow stuffing out to wash. Of couse, an inquisitive toddler would have to investigate that, so maybe it is just better to sew it closed and hope for the best in the wash. I use the trimmings from my poly batting I use for quilts as stuffing. I have enough trimmings to stuff MANY pillows!
