Default new quilt block inspiration, now what?

Saw this in pinterest and figured it would be an awesome quilt block. I guess it might be best to use some wonky strips and then perhaps either snowball them or maybe even use a home made wonky drunkards path template? Then when quilting use black thread and stitch the asterisk in the middle of each? Any suggestions would be appreaciated! new quilt block inspiration, now what?-orbital.jpg

I think you're on the right track. I think I would begin with a circle of white and add the colored portions in slivers/wedges (maybe use the picture as inspiration) and at the end applique the circle to a background and stitch on the asterisks.

Reminds me of cartoon eyeballs after a hard night of drinking! I have to say I did my fair share of partying in my younger days! Joe and I were sitting in our local pub tonight having dinner. The conversation went something like this...

"Yeah, Rebecca, you've gotten pretty boring in your old age!"
    "Gee, thanks a lot Joe!"
" I wonder if the folks I partied with back in those days are as boring as I've become?"
" They either went the same route as you or they'd be dead!"
I about fell off my chair laughing! Sometimes he can be so insulting and so funny at the same time!

wow that is so 1960's. there was china with a pattern just like that, might even be the same pattern. Is worth a fortune now! Trying desperately to remember the name of the pattern............. It will come to me. Maybe

Ok not the same but this is why it reminded me of it

I had melamine plates from about the 1950's that look like that quilt! It was a pattern called "starburst"..but it was mostly blues and green...I love it and think it would be an eyecatching quilt! Hope you make it and post it!
