    Default A Quilter Is....

Someone who assiduously clips coupons and hunts for bargains at the
supermarket, but buys untold yards of fabric, regardless of price.

Someone who pays to have the ironing done, but thinks nothing of
standing for hours pressing twenty yards of fabric for a quilt.

Someone who sees life through the eye of a needle, and that is a very
    special thing.

Someone who is bored silly hearing about other peoples' dumb hobbies
such as sky-diving, motorcycling, or stamp collecting, but constantly
fascinates everyone she comes in contact with by sharing her quilts
    and quilting experiences.

Someone who has not been able to balance her checkbook since March
1979, but can figure the yardage requirements for a Log Cabin Quilt
and have just enough left over for a pin cushion.

Someone who enjoys sewing a quilt, but hides the mending until the
garments are either outgrown or out of style.

Someone who cannot see cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, dust balls
under the bed, or a sink full of dirty dishes, but can thread a size
    10 needle in the dark.

    Hmmmmm, can anyone here relate?

Oh yeah to most of them...can't thread a needle in the dark; have to use needle threaders; but the rest...oh yeah!

Oh, if that isn't the absolute truth. The fourth one really hit home. Al always wants to talk about his website, his google+ account, his blog, what he's doing with his interpreter friends and I am totally bored. However, I do feel bad because he is always coming to the sewing room to see what I'm working on and he praises me beyond my worth. No wonder I love this man.
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

Myrna, thanks for sharing this....it is all true...I love it!
Sandy, my dh always comes into the sewing room and praises everything I do....but, he always wants to talk about hunting in some way (places that he and our sons will go, how many deer and turkey are there, etc)....I also am so bored with it after 50 odd years of talking about it, and "I really try to listen and seem interested----honest"

Thanks Myrna! Good reminder of why I am a quilter. Mostly because I don't like housework at all. Been there, done that. Once you cleaned the house once a year, why waste sewing time?
Truthfully, I don't let just anyone in my house. My kith and kin know that I really am a clean and organized person . . . in my youth. Once I decided that life was to be enjoyed, I decided to let everything really need a good cleaning before I started in again. Cleaning is boring. Quilting is fun. You can figure my choice. smiles!

I'm just working on figuring out a way to weave cobwebs into cloth. It would be a shame to knock them down and spoil my research.

I have been known to sew something from scratch, rather than mend it! Great list!
