I use the basting spray all the time. If doesn't seem to dull the needle and if anything, makes my stitching quicker and firmer. Good luck.

I have used the spray and love it but be careful not to use it near anyone with breathing trouble. A friend of mine can't be anywhere near the sprays.
I also noticed a light residue on my hardwood floor the last time i use it. Make sure you wipe any surfaces near you when you're done spraying.
